1. The puppy love seems to refer to what Jacobo feels to Gina.

A puppy love is something that you

feel towards someone specially for the young age group bracket. This type of feeling, although is
pure and innocent, may not last and is not that deep compare to other forms of love. Jacobo
however doesn’t seem to only feel “puppy love” towards Gina since he always tries to find a
reason to spend time with her even as they grow older. The symbolism for me represent by how
Jacobo uses that puppy love or young love in order for him to become a better person and be a
“man”. It was also used by Jacobo to be sort of like a basis in finding his ideal type.

2. In my opinion Jacobo used a narrative for him to tell how he feels for Gina. Although the
narrative suggest that Jacobo doesn’t feel the same feelings for Gina anymore, He stills cares for
her. It was also a way for her to know that he is now a different person compare to who he is
before.
