Job Aid

A job aid is any material that provides simple information about how to perform a task. These
are instructional tools that allow workers to quickly remember or access the information they
need to perform their jobs. Some examples include instructional cards, charts or posters that
give a relatively large amount of information at a glance. Job aids are designed to remind
workers of information they have already been taught and know, not teach them new
information on the spur of the moment. In general, good job aids have a strong visual
component to them and may include pictures, diagrams or flowcharts
Job aids go by many names and are used in all sorts of industries as performance boosters.
They’re helpful enough that if companies don’t automatically provide them, employees tend to
create job aids on their own.
Regardless of if they’re paid by the hour or project, or are salaried, people want to know the
best way to do things quickly and efficiently. No one wants to waste time hunting down
instructions.

Excel Tools

Microsoft Excel is a helpful and powerful program for data analysis and documentation. It is a
spreadsheet program, which contains a number of columns and rows, where each intersection
of a column and a row is a “cell.” Each cell contains one point of data or one piece of
information. By organizing the information in this way, you can make information easier to find,
and automatically draw information from changing data.
In business, literally, any function in any industry can benefit from those with strong Excel
knowledge. Excel is a powerful tool that has become entrenched in business processes
worldwide--whether for analyzing stocks or issuers, budgeting, or organizing client sales lists.
