By Rara Suratmi ASX-listed energy firm Energy World Corporation Ltd is making necessary preparations to bring its South Sulawesi LNG (SS LNG) project to come onstream within the next 12- 24 months. According to the company’s presentation released on Tuesday, it has completed engineering including long-led time items and is in the process of permit renewal including gas allocation. The company said it will also revise the offtake agreement with state electricity firm PT. PLN (Persero) and industrial users and to restart discussion with lenders. Read also: EWC updates Sengkang LNG project EWC’s SS LNG project was delayed for about 4 years on forestry permit issues and the project is ready to move after the ministry of forestry has recently given green light to continue with the development. EWC is planning to develop a modular LNG facility with a total capacity of 2 million tons per annum. The first modul with a capacity of 500,000 tons is expected to become onstream in 12-24 months as construction is already 80 percent completed. A total of US$343 million has been invested in the project to date (excluding finance and soft cost). A further $35-50 million will be required to bring the first 500,000 tonnes per annum of LNG production on-line, the company said. EWC also said that the SS LNG project could potentially become the region’s LNG hub. EWC said that it will have a license to export LNG which could be used to supply its planned LNG-hub in the Philippines, subject to domestic market obligation fulfillment. Editing by Alexander Ginting
