EWC’s  SS LNG project was delayed for about 4 years on forestry permit issues and the
project is ready to move after the ministry of forestry has recently given green light to
continue with the development.
EWC is planning to develop a modular LNG facility with a total capacity of 2 million
tons per annum. The first modul  with a capacity of 500,000 tons is expected to become
onstream in 12-24 months as construction is already 80 percent completed.   A total of
US$343 million has been invested in the project to date (excluding finance and soft cost).
A further $35-50 million will be required to bring the first 500,000 tonnes per annum of
LNG production on-line, the company said.
EWC also said that the SS LNG project could potentially become the region’s LNG hub.
EWC said that it will have a license to export LNG which could be used to supply its
planned LNG-hub in the Philippines, subject to domestic market obligation fulfillment.
