Supply chain management in view of climate change: An overview of possible

impacts and the road ahead
This paper aims to provide an overview of the impacts of climate change on supply chains and to
analyze the implications of climate change for supply chain management in terms of strategic
and operational planning. Climate change has emerged in recent years as one of the most critical
topics at almost all levels of decision making, both private and public. The existence of climate
change is caused by global warming which affects in many ways the lives of human society,
business operations and the environment itself) According to Sussman & Freed there are three
types of climate change risks that can affect a business: core operating risks, risks to value chains
and, finally, risks arising from broader changes in the economy and infrastructure. Businesses
should perceive climate change as a market problem as regulation of climate change affects,
among other things, the price and availability of energy, thus creating ripple effects throughout
their value chains. In particular, market issues and relevant market strategies must be considered
when companies formulate climate change policies. , the current and future implications of
climate change with respect to energy efficiency for logistics and SCM have been investigated,
other studies also address the complexities of climate change and the challenges of globalization
