1. Find the exact value of

2. A pay rise of 9 ½ % was given to a worker earning a wage of 44,000/=. Find the
wage of the worker after the pay rise. (4mks)
3. Calculate the area of a circular field whose perimeter is 220metres. (4mks)
4. In a mixed secondary school the ratio of girls to boys is 5: 9. If there are 675 boys
in the school, determine the total number of students in the school. (4mks)
5. Two bottles are similar, the smaller bottle is 20cm high and has a volume of
300cc. If the larger bottle is 40cm high, determine its volume. (4mks)
6. A line passes through points A(a, 4) and B(2, 6) and is perpendicular to the line
4y + x = 8. Find the value of a (4mks)
7. The point P(1, 2) after a translation OT = 3 followed by enlargement with

linear scale factor 2, centre (0, 0) is mapped on to PI. Find
(i) Coordinates of AI (2mks)
(ii) Distance AAI (2mks)
8. A triangular filed has an area of 810m2. Find the area of the field (cm2) on a map
whose scale is 1:500 (4mks)
9. Solve the inequality 5 – 4x ≥ - x + 8 (4mks)
10. Convert: (i) 1:20Pm to a 24 hour clock (2mks)
(ii) 0430Hours to a 12 – hour clock. (2mks)

b) What can you deduce about points P, T and V.

12. a) Mary wants to invest a sum of money so that its value after 3 years will be sh
304,175. How much should she invest at 15% per annum compound interest?
c) The income tax rates of a certain country are as follows:

If Mr. Kapere paid shs 400,000 as income tax find his gross income

13. A plane flew from town K to town L on a bearing of 130o from K and 120km
away. From town L it then flew to town M on a bearing of 252o from L and
560km away. It then flew back to K
a) Using a scale of 1cm to 50km, draw a diagram showing the positions of the
towns K, L and M.
b) Use your graph to determine the
(i) distance of town M from town K
(ii) the bearing of town K from town M
c) If the plane flew at an average speed of 300km/h, find the time the plane
took to fly from town K and back

14. In the class of 75 students, 38 students like Matooke (M), 44 like Posho (P) while
33 like Rice (R). Of these students 17 like both Matooke and Posho, 16 like both
Matooke and Rice while 20 like both Posho and Rice. Only 6 of the students do
not like any of the foods.
a) Represent the above information on a venn diagram
b) Determine the number of students who like all the three foods
c) How many students like only two of the foods?
d) If a student is selected at random from this class, find the probability that the
student likes only one of the foods

The figure above is a cuboid of side AB = 8cm, BC =6cm and DS = 15cm. Use it
to answer the questions that follow.
a) Calculate the length of BS
b) Calculate the angle BS makes with the horizontal plane
c) Calculate the area of the plane PBCS

16. a) Find the equation of a line whose gradient is -3 and passing through the point
(2, 4)
b) P is the point ( 3, 4) and Q is the point (-4, 5), find the area of
triangle OPQ where O is the origin of Coordinates
c) List down the following
(i) P = {even numbers less than 5}
(ii) E = {prime numbers less than 4}
(iii) Write down P n E and hence n(P n E)
