Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 80

General Instructions :
1. This question paper contains two parts A and B.
2. Both Part A and Part B have internal choices.
Part–A :
1. It consists of two sections- I and II.
2. Section I has 16 questions. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions.
3. Section II has four case study-based questions. Each case study has 5 case-based sub-parts. An examinee is to
attempt any 4 out of 5 sub-parts.
Part–B :
1. Question no. 21 to 26 are very short answer type questions of 2 mark each.
2. Question no. 27 to 33 are short answer type questions of 3 marks each.
3. Question no. 34 to 36 are long answer type questions of 5 marks each.
4. Internal choice is provided in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 1 question of 5 marks.

3. Find the roots of the quadratic equation x2 − 0.04 = 0

Part - A Ans : [Board 2020 OD Standard]

We have x2 - 0.04 = 0
Section - I x2 = 0.04
1. If HCF(336, 54) = 6 , find LCM(336, 54). x = ! 0.04
 Ans : [Board 2019 OD] x = ! 0.2.

HCF # LCM = Product of number
If ½ is a root of the equation x2 + kx − 54 = 0 , then
6 # LCM = 336 # 54
what is the value of k ?
LCM = 336 # 54  Ans :
6
= 56 # 54 = 3024 We have x2 + kx − 5 = 0
Thus LCM of 336 and 54 is 3024. 4
Since, ½ is a root of the given quadratic equation, it
 o
must satisfy it.
Explain why 13233343563715 is a composite number?
b 1 l + kb 1 l − 5 = 0
2

Ans : [Board Term-1 2016] Thus

2 2 4
The number 13233343563715 ends in 5. 1 + k − 5 = 0

Hence it is a multiple of 5. Therefore it is a 4 2 4
composite number. 1 + 2k − 5 = 0

2. For which value(s ) of p , will the lines represented by 4
the following pair of linear equations be parallel ? 2k - 4 = 0 & k = 2
3x - y - 5 = 0 4. Fill the two blanks in the sequence 2 .........., 26, .........
6x - 2y - p = 0 so that the sequence forms an AP.
Ans : Ans : [Board 2020 SQP Standard]

We have, 3x - y - 5 = 0 Let a and b be the two numbers. AP will be 2, a

, 26, b .
and 6x - 2y - p = 0
Now, 26 - a = a − 2
Here, a1 = 3 , b1 =− 1, c1 =− 5
and a2 = 6 , b2 =− 2 , c2 =− p 2a = 28 & a = 28 = 14
2
Since given lines are parallel,
and b - 26 = 26 − a
a1 = b1 ! c1
a2 b2 c2 a + b = 52
- 1 ! - 5 14 + b = 52 & b = 38

-2 -p Thus a = 14 and b = 38 .
p ! 5 # 2 & p ! 10 o

votes equal to twice the no. of persons on the electoral

was equal to twice his majority over B . If there were
1,8000 persons on the electoral roll. How many votes

 Ans : [Board Term-1 2012, Set-56]
We have DB = BC, DE = AB and AC = BC.
Let x and y be the no. of votes for A and B
respectively. In TABC, +C = 90º , thus
The no. of persons who did not vote is 18000 - x - y . +1 + +2 = 90º
We have x = 2 ^18000 − x − y h But we have been given,
3x + 2y = 36000 ...(1) +2 + +3 = 90º
and ^18000 - x - y h = 2 ^x − y h Hence +1 = +3
or 3x - y = 18000 ...(2) In TABC and TBDE,
Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1), +1 = +3
3y = 18000 and +ACB = +DEB = 90º
y = 6000 Thus by AA similarity we have
