Jane Eyre's parents died when she was very young, and she was adopted by her mother's

brother, Mr. Reed,

who also died soon after. The story begins when Jane is only ten years old. This is a small and weaк child.
She lives in the house of her aunt, Sarah Reed, a powerful and selfish woman, with her children John, Eliza
and Georgiana. Jane really wants to earn her aunt's love, but she can barely stand it

Once the conflict reaches a critical point. John Reed smashes Jane's head and when he swings again, she
angrily attacks him. Immediately running to Mrs. Reed's cries, she again "did not notice" Jane's wound and
punished her by sending her to the Red Room, where Mr. Reed had once died. Jane begs to punish her in
some other way, but in vain.

Mrs. Reed send her niece to school. Mrs. Reed's choice falls on the Lowwood School for Girls, but she asks
the school's mentor, Mr. Brocklehurst, to warn everyone that she is a liar. Despite the public accusation of
lying and disgusting nature, Jane's relationship with students and teachers is developing well. She is
supported by director Maria Temple and Ellen Burns, a girl older than her, who impresses Jane with her
knowledge, strength of spirit and Christian humility.

But conditions are difficult at the Lovewood Asylum School. After that, Brocklehurst is removed from sole
management and living conditions at school become normal.

Jane has spent eight years in Lovewood, the last two years as a teacher. During this time, she grew up,
although still small and ugly. Jane's soul asks for something else, some change.

After making an announcement, she gets a job as a governess for 9-year-old Frenchwoman Adele Varance
at the Thornfield , the house is inhabited by housekeeper Alice Fairfax - a simple sweet old woman, and
several servants, including the gloomy seamstress Grace Poole, strange and sinister.

Everything changes with the sudden arrival of the owner of the estate, the guardian of Adele, Mr. Edward
Rochester. This is a man of unattractive appearance and complex character, strong, ironic, gloomy and
confident. There are some misfortunes in his past that burden him.

Rochester often talks to Jane, and soon she gets used to him.She is interested in this new,
incomprehensible character.

One night Jane sees smoke in the hallway - it's burning Mr. Rochester's room. It saves his life, his
development, and helps put out the fire. The girl believes that this is the work of Grace Poole, but
Rochester asks Jane not to tell anyone what happened. Jane realizes that the owner has become too dear to
her.
