Remember: Help the learner answer with HONESTY. Remind him/her to use a sheet of paper for
ALL the answers and to keep the answer sheet NEAT by avoiding erasures. Answer sheet will be
submitted to the teacher.
PROCEDURES
1. Review/Motivations (What’s In)
Tell the learner to identify the given words on page 3 that can be related to the dictionary,
thesaurus, or online resources.
Remember: If needed, explain unfamiliar word/s to the learner to make sure that he/she really
understands the short story.
3. Discussion of the Topic (What is it)
Instruct the learner to carefully read different text types on pages 5-6 and note important
details by answering the questions after each text type.
Remember: The learner can read it as many times as needed to make sure s/he understands the text.
Explain unfamiliar words if needed.
4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)
Let the learner carefully read the text on page 7 and note important details by answering
questions after reading.
Remember: If the learner gets MOST of the correct answers, it means that he already learned to note
significant details from various text types. Great job, instructor and learner!
However, if the learner gets a score lower than half, then you may consider repeating the
discussion part which needs clarification.
5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)
It’s time to check what the learner understood. Let him/her complete the sentence on page 8.
Tell him/her to choose from the words inside the box to complete the sentence correctly.
Remember: The learner can read it as many times as needed to make sure s/he understands the text.
8. Additional Activity
Tell the learner to carefully read the short story on pages 10-11 then answer the questions after
reading the short story.
Remember: If needed, help the learner in understanding the text. Let the learner read the text as many
times as needed.
Well done, instructor and learner! We made it to the end. Now you may take a break and enjoy a
