ADAPTATION OF A PLAY

Macbeth is a tragedy play by William Shakespeare. We will stage Act 1 from the play
which consists of 7 scenes. From Act 1, there are several characters that we will act which
are The Witches, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Duncan, Malcolm, Captain, Lennox, Ross,
Banquo, Angus and the last character is Messenger.

As for the platform, we decided to use Google Meet because it provides a video
conferencing service with clear resolution. A meeting can be held up to 100 people, the
microphone and audio service are good especially for our three witches act. Hence, it
enables us to act systematically and synchronously.

For the script, we altered and changed a few words to modern words. It is to ease
our staging as our pronunciation would be a problem. Aside from that, we also separate
certain words and actions to make the staging way more interesting. Plus, the script is
rewritten not to make any of our group members confused.

Furthermore, one of the props and costumes we use is a sword to bring out the
elements of the medieval era.  Next, we use a broomstick that acts as a staff for the witch.
Finally, we use makeup in this play as witches in order to bring out the wickedness in the
characters so that they will be viewed as if they are real witches.

Lastly, we choose several theatrical musicals in the production of Macbeth. Each act
and scene require an appropriate musical as the action will be separate. The soundtrack will
symbolize the characters during the play. The diegetic sounds from the piano, accompanied
by the violin's highest-pitched, will become the subliminal source of anxiety for the audience
throughout the adaptation.
