Introduction:
Government is responsible for taking suitable actions and making proper strategies in order to
cope up with the needs of the economy. In the current pandemic situation where a number of
people are dying from Corona virus, a great responsibility lies on government to handle
situation. Every country is trying its best to overcome the crisis and Kuwait is among those
countries making so many efforts to keep the situation control in the current outbreak of
crisis.

According to the 15th article of the constitution of Kuwait, the government has entire
responsibility of public care in case of any catastrophic situation. The first case of Corona
virus in Kuwait was detected in February 2020 and that person brought that virus from Iran.
The government of Kuwait has found taking appropriate measures and government vigilance
can be seen through its suitable strategies and actions.

Kuwait Government policies and public reaction:

The total cases recorded in Kuwait are 143k out of which 138k recovered and deaths are 882.
From 18th November to 1st December 5107 new cases and one death is recorded (WHO,
2020). Government has taken many financial and non-financial steps. Government is giving
long term loans at concessional rate to SMEs. Instalments on loans are postponed to provide
financial support to nationals. Salary support is also provided by the government under
chapter five of social security. Stability is maintained in the prices of food and medical
commodities. Besides this, for travelling corona virus test is necessary that should be 1 to 3
days before travelling. Malls and educational institutions were closed for two weeks. Free
sanitizers were provided, and instructions of public distancing were made by the government
to public. Tools of molecular biology diagnosis of symptomatic/asymptomatic contacts have
started using for the people who are coming from abroad, people who feel sick and have
fever, and people who were indirect contact with an infected person (Moh, 2020).

At start people of Kuwait were not that serious but when they saw the situation of Italy, they
got scared and they started following all the SOPs and accepted all the actions taken by the
government with full patriotism.

Conclusion:
According to a recent poll by Gulf and Arab Peninsula Centre for Studies, two third of the
population of Kuwaitis are in support of government measures against the current epidemic.
The reason behind this is that the government has although taken measures including
lockdown but has not compromised on the people welfare and has tried its best to keep the
standard of living same as before despite of a decrease in economic growth. As a result the
citizens also help government in overcoming from the crisis by practicing social distancing
and all following all other measures making them the part of their living as no vaccine has
been made till now (Boulos et. al, 2020).
