PILING AND DRILLING TEMPLATE

DESIGN PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

TWD designed several piling machines in order to install multiple INSTALLATION OF OVER 500 PILES (PILING & DRILLING)

types of piles for the Hay Point jetty construction in Australia. OUTRIGGERS REUSED DURING PILING & DRILLING

The novel piling templates were fitted with grippers on both sides ONE NOVEL DESIGN FITS FOUR JACK UP BARGES

ed to drill sockets for a number of piles that had to be placed in

rocky seabed. The durability of the design allowed the equipment

to be also used in future installation projects.

Thorough investigation of the pile installation sequence resulted

in the optimal work range of the JUBs with minimal jacking loca-

tions during operation. On-site engineering and fabrication ser-

vices were provided such that the challenging design project was

completed within 3 months.

With the involvement of TWD from start to finish significant time

and money was saved and the installation of over 500 piles was

considered a success.

To be able to install the piles efficiently, the challenge was to equip the outrigger with grippers on both sides. The top and bottom grippers are

identical to increase the interchangeability between the templates and minimizes the required amount of spares. Both grippers were able to move

independently in the horizontal plane to install the piles under different rakes. To manipulate the grippers large hydraulic cylinders were installed.

drill head was inserted in the casing to complete the drill hole.
