INSTRUCTIONS
Cutting the Fabric
1) Print the pattern on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Make sure that the Test Square is 2 x 2 inches. Tape the
pieces together according to the outline included in the document. Cut out each piece of the pattern
following the solid black lines.
2) Cut out the fabric pieces following each pattern piece. “Cut on the fold” by folding the fabric in
half and placing the dotted line along the folded edge. Then, cut along the solid black lines so that
the final piece unfolds to be twice the size and symmetrical.

Sewing the Garment

1) Starting with the outer pieces, pin the long side of the outer bottom piece along the curved sides
of the outer side pieces. Sew the pieces together with a straight stitch.
2) Repeat with the liner Sides and bottom pieces.
3) Finish the curved edges of the bag outer and liner with a zigzag or overedge stitch.
4) Flip the bag outer inside out so the seams are on the inside and place the liner inside. Fold the
edges of both pieces inwards by 1 inch.
5) Sew along the top edge of the bag with a straight stitch securing the liner into the bag.
6) Take the Strap piece and fold both long edges inwards by 1/4 inch and then fold the entire strap
in half again. Sew along the edge of the strap with a straight stitch to protect the raw edges.
7) Pin the ends of the straps to the sides on the inside of the bag. Secure the straps with a straight
stitch.
8) Flip the bag inside out and tuck the strap inside. Unzip the zipper and pin it upside down along
the sides of the bag. Sew the zipper down with a straight stitch
9) Finish the edge of the bag and the zipper together with an overedge or zigzag stitch. Flip the bag
right side out.
