Things to know before you start:
Read all instructions before starting project.
Make sure your printer is set to print actual size or 100%.
All pieces have a 1/4in seam allowance included unless stated otherwise in the
tutorial.
Pre-wash all fabrics before sewing to avoid color run and fabric shrinkage.
Measure the test square on the first pattern piece to make sure you printed
correctly.

Make sure you are using the most up to date version of Adobe Reader.

Cotton spandex (Lycra): You can use other knits or fleece for the leg portion
of the pants.
Sewing machine
Serger (optional)
Scissors

If you want to trim the pages

before lining up you can but you
should be able to easily line up the
solid lines without trimming the
pages.
Line up each line so that the grey
corners form a square.

Use a ruler to check your
test square on your pat-
tern pieces.
It should measure one inch
if printed correctly.
Do not cut out pattern pieces be-
fore taping all of the pattern page
pieces together.

 How to print only the size you need
using Adobe Acrobat Reader (on a computer)
Step 1: Make sure you are using
ADOBE ACROBAT READER.
If you do not have this on your computer then you
can download it for free from the Adobe website.
You will need the layers function that Adobe on a
computer offers. The Adobe app for phones/tablets
does not offer the layer function at this time.
If you do not have a computer then you can save the
file to a flash drive and print where you have access
to Adobe on a computer.

Step 2: Select the “layers” tab. (The layers function

will not work on phones or tablets at this time as the
Adobe app does not support this function.)

Step 3: Un-click all the sizes (layers) you do NOT

want to print.
Be sure the keep the “KEEP SELECTED” or bottom
layer selected otherwise all of the important
pattern information will not show up.
Be sure the size (layer) you DO want to print is
selected.

Step 4: Go to “File” and select “print”. When print-

ing make sure your settings are set to “print actual
size” or 100%.

Measure your child around their hips and their inseam.

Select size based on these measurements.

If your child wears a diaper and you plan to have it on under the

Adding ears and things to bum circle:

Iron HeatnBond Lite (HnBL) to the back of

your appliqué fabric then trace the shape
of your appliqué on to the paper side of
the HnBL.
TIP: Make sure you are using the purple
package of HnBL. It will not gum up your
machine like the red packaged HnB will.

Cut out appliqué and remove the pa-

per backing off of the HnBL.

Place your appliqué on the desired

location on your bum piece.

You will want to make sure your appli-

qué lines up with the seam allowance
on the bum circle.

Press in place.

Use a narrow zig-zag stitch and sew

around the appliqué shape.
Tip: If your fabric is rippling as you
sew try using a tear away stabilizer on
the back of your fabric as you appli-
qué your pieces on.

You can then assemble your bum

circle according to the directions for
adding a bum circle.

Adding the bum circle:

With right sides together, line up
the top middle point of the bum
circle with the middle point of the
bum opening on the pants.
Pin in place.
Next you will line up the corner of the
bum circle with the bottom corner of
the bum circle opening.
Pin in place.
Repeat this step for the other half of
the bum circle.

Evenly stretching the bum circle opening around the bum circle
between the two pin points.
Pin in place.
Repeat this step for other half of the bum circle.

Adding the bum circle: (continued)

Sew and/or serge your bum circle to your

bum opening.
Make sure you use the full seam allowance.
This will allow the bum circle to lay flat when
you press it.

Press the bum circle edge towards the outer edge of the pants.
Top-stitch around the edge of the bum circle using your favorite knit stitch.
You can even use short straight stitch to top-stitch around the bum circle.

Adding Inseam Pockets (pants and skirty):
Only available on Maxaloones, Monsterloones, and Megaloones.
Instructions shown adding pockets to the skirty but the concept is the same. You would add the
inseam pockets the same way if you did pants.

With right side together and using your front pattern piece as a guide, line up
each pocket piece where you want it on the front of your skirty/pants.
Sew the straight edge of the pocket to the skirty/pants.
Repeat for your back skirt/pant piece.

With right sides together, line up the front of the skirty/pants with the back of
the skirty/pants.
You will sew around the outside of the pockets as you sew the sides of the
skirty/pants together.

Adding Traditional Pockets:

With right sides together, line up each of
the front pocket linings with the front of the
pants/shorts.
Sew the front pocket lining to the pants
along the top curve of the pocket lining.
Flip the pocket lining pieces over towards
the wrong side (back side) of the front pant
piece. Press and then top-stitch along the
top curve of the pocket lining as shown.

Do NOT sew the pockets

to the pants when sewing
the lining together.

With the wrong side of the pants still facing you, line up the
front side of the back pocket lining piece with the right side of
the front pocket lining.
Pin/clip pocket pieces together.
Sew the bottom curve of each pocket together. Be sure that
you are not sewing the pocket lining to the pant piece.

Continue on to the basic pant assembly.

Adding Patch Pockets:

With right sides together,

sew all the way around the
pocket but leave a hole so
you can turn the pocket
the right way out when
you are done.
Trim the corners and the
curves.

Turn right side out, tuck in the turn hole so

it is even with the rest of the seam allow-
ance. Press.
Topstitch 1/2in down from the top of the
pocket.

Place the pocket in your desired

location.
Sew the sides and bottom edge
of the pocket to your pants.

Adding a Kangaroo Pocket:

Fold band in half the long way.

With right sides together, sew the
band to the pocket curve.
Top-stitch the seam if you would
like.

Fold the bottom hem of the pocket

under 1/2in and press.

With right sides facing up, line up

the pocket with the front of the
pants.
The top of the pocket and the sides
of the pocket should match up with
the top edge and side edges of the
pants.

Pin in place and then sew the bot-

tom edge of the pocket to the
pants.

Continue on to assemble the rest of

the pants.

Assembling and adding Skirty (no pockets):

With right sides together, sew

the side seams of the skirt
together.

Hem the skirt using one of these methods:

Regular hem: Fold the hem under 1/2in,

press then top stitch all the way around the
skirt using your favorite stretch stitch.

Rolled hem: Refer to your machine’s manual

for instructions on a rolled hem. Youtube also
has great videos on rolled hems. Make sure
to stretch the fabric evenly as you go to cre-
ate a wavy effect.

You can also leave the hem unfinished.

With right sides together, line up the front

and back of the skirt opening with the
front and back hem of the waist opening.

Match up the side seams of the skirt with

the side seams of the bodice.
Sew together.

***If your skirt opening seems larger than

the waist of the pants try pinning the skirt
to the pants while it is on a flat surface.
The skirt weighs a lot more than the pants
so it tends to sag when you are attaching
the two pieces together.

Assembling all pant/short styles:
With right sides together, line up the
front of your pants with the back of
your pants and sew the side seams
together.

With right sides together, line up the

ankle of each pant leg and pin/clip
together then line up the bottom mid-
dle of your bum circle or the middle
of the inseam with the other middle
inseam and pin/clip together.

You will need to gently stretch the

back of the pants to match the front
of the pants.

You will want to either serge the in-

seam (crotch seam) or use a 3-step
zig zag stitch. You can reinforce the
inseam by sewing a line along your zig
zag stitch.

Make sure you when you sew the bum circle area that you catch the
corner of the bum circle so that your seam does not come apart.

Adding Spikes to leg seam:

With right sides together, sew the spikes
together along the diagonal edges.
Trim the tip/seam allowance but do not
cut the thread.
Turn right side out and press.
Repeat for each spike you want to add.
With right sides together, line up
the raw edge of each spike with
the raw edge of your outer pant
seam.
Pin in place.

With right sides together, lay the other side of your pants on top of the piece
with the spikes on it.
Pin in place.
Sew the side seams of your pants together and then line up the inseam of your
pants and sew the inseam together.
Turn pants right side out and add bands according to directions.
