Unboxing Challenge
Mother bought 1.2 kg of vegetable at ₱45.50 per kilogram and 2.5 kg of chicken at ₱103.25 per
kilogram. How much did she pay altogether?
Solution: We need to multiply first the total amount for each item bought.
₱45.50 × 1.2 + ₱103.25 × 2.5 = ₱54.6 + ₱258.125 = ₱𝟑𝟏𝟐. 𝟕𝟐𝟓
Therefore, mother paid ₱312.725 in all, rounded off to ₱312.73.

Solution: (0.62 − 0.42) ÷ 0.1 + 4.5 Do the operations inside the parentheses first.
= 0.2 ÷ 0.1 + 4.5 Do division first.
= 2 + 4.5 Add.
= 𝟔. 𝟓 Therefore, the value is 6.5.
