1. Overview
1.1 features
J58K-300 electric screw press belongs to electrical-mechanical transmission structure. It has
advanced switched reluctance drive. It has the features of simple and compact structure, short
transmission chain, strike speed fast and high efficiency,convenient operation and maintenance. To
adjust the strike and energy at any time according to the forging molding process, high precision
molding for forge piece. The mould stress is small and long service life.

1.2 uses and scope of use


Electric screw press is a kind of all-purpose forginge quipment.It can be widely used in metal
precision forging, die forging, upsetting, squeezing, finishing etc. And high density of refractory
products can be made by electric screw press. It is widely used in machinery manufacturing, auto,
tractor, aviation and refractory industry.

1.3 operating environment and working conditions The work shop of electric screw press should
have ventilation and dust removal equipment, to prevent clogging and damage due to dust pollution
for press’s guide rail and motor, mechanical drive or its related parts.
The work shop should have enough light and unobstructed road.It should set a red elevation lamp on
the highest point at the top of the press to prevent overhead travelling crane impact. Checking the
electric, gas, liquid in the specified index should be done before pressing, then start to work to make
sure work properly.

1.4 Influence for the energy to the environment


The electric screw press will produce some noise during working, therefore, the forging work shop
should be far away fromresidential area. The motor of electric screw press can do intermittent work
when feeding, discharging and die adjustment. So energy saving effect is good and has a little effect
on energy. Because the frame of electric screw press is closed structure, most of energy during press
working is absorbed by forge piece and frame, the effect to the ground is very little, there is no
greater shock on the ground. Vibration noise can be prevented. If adopting vibration isolation
technology, the effect will be better.
1.5 safety
Electric screw press safety strictly enforce standards of <<electric screw press safety technology>>.
Please pay attention to set the block facilities to prevent other person entering the working area, to
ensure personal safety. Press has a buffer device and can buffer the accidental impact when slider
upwards to the beam. And on the related position there are safety sign, to warn and safeguard the
operator and ensure personal safety. These marks and sign represent various levels of potentially
dangerous information, to remind operators pay attention.
Special caution:
The biggest working force of electric screw press is 1.6 times of nominal force, but cannot use
for a long period. It is suggested to use working force within the scope of nominal force.
Prohibit striking with more than 1.6 times nominal force, so as not to damage frame、flywheel、
screw、nut、motor drive system,as so on. And to affect your production and benefits.
Take ear protector during the press working area because of noise.
Must wear safety helmet due to the head injury risk.

3. Overall structure and working principle


The electric screw press consist of frame, flywheel, Platform,brake, slider, ejector, air pipe line,
lubrication system, drive motor, electric control system, etc. (refer to Fig.1)
The press’s working principle: The drive motor supply power, through the transmitte triangle belt
transmission, drive the flywheel to rotate from positive and negative direction and store-release
energy continuously. The flywheel rotate with screw together through spline, to make the slider
move upward-downward through the nut fixed in the slider. The motion system produce the energy
to strike the work piece. In the process of slider down, firstly brake is bubbled into gas to make
flywheel be free, and the motor rotation drives the flywheel to move, the flywheel rotate with screw
through spline, to make the slider move downward. When the mould on the slider contact with work
piece, the slider finish forging the work piece for one time.
After finishing forging, the motor reverse rotation, and drive the flywheel and screw to rotate in
reverse, to make the slider upward through nut. When the slider return to the position on 2/3
stroke of slide, brake cylinder exhausts and brake disc tight flywheel under the action of spring force,
then brake completed. At this time, bottom ejector system ejected and finish one time strike.
4. Main parts or functional unit’s structure, effect and working principle
1.frame (Fig.2)
J58K-300 electric screw press is combined prestressed frame,consist of crossbeam and body. All the
parts of the combined frame are tightened by two pull rods, to be a closed-typed structure. There are
locating rings on the interface connection parts of crossbeam and body to position.
The whole frame is closed-typed frame structure. It is the main stressed part of press. Though design
rigidity is large, long time overload working will cause frame relative parts damaged due to fatigue.
Therefore, the working force must be less than 1.6 times nominal force.
There are plate on the bottom base of frame to protect the work table and adjust/install the forging
die. The plate has ejecting hole to use when ejecting. The plate on work table is 100mm high.
2.Flywheel (Fig.3)
J58K-300 electric screw press’s flywheel consist of screw and big belt wheel.
The screw connected with big belt wheel through round key. There is a convex platform on the
middle to transfer the forging force to the lathe bed through a thrust bearing. During working,the
screw rod only rotate and don’t do axial movement. It finish forging through the nut fixed in the
slider. The screw is set in the crossbeam, the assembling clearance between bottom of convex
platform and thrust bearing should keep 0.3mm. If the assembling clearance is more than 0.5mm
during use, should adjust the thickness of adjustable pad ,to keep the assembling clearance within the
scope of the permit.
The method of adjusting screw between spherical and thrust bearing clearance: remove the round nut,
adjust gland, tight will screw up again, make the screw between spherical and thrust bearing
clearance is zero, measure the flywheel end face and the distance of the screw end, measuring
adjustment again gland to the small thickness, adjust gland according to measuring the size of the
grinding thickness of the small end, make adjust gland gap between end face and the flywheel face
under 0.25 mm.
The flywheel rotate clockwise and counterclockwise through the transmitte v-belt and main motor
connection. The big belt wheel rotate with screw rod, then make slider move straightly to output
energy.
3.Platform
The platform is the closed structure. And the flywheel is covered in it.
4.Brake (Fig.4)
The flywheel brake is set on the frame. When braking, cylinder piston cavity exhausts instantly, the
spring start work at this time, under the action of the spring force, piston tighten the outer edge of the
flywheel through a shaft rod pushing the brake arm, to achieve braking through friction torque.
When the press is working normally, cylinder piston cavity inlet, brake friction plate is separated
from the flywheel release, brake loosen.
The spacing between brake friction plate and outer edge of flywheel should be 1.5~3mm, if the
spacing is more than 3mm, should adjust the position of brake arm.
When the thickness of friction plate is less than 6mm, should change new friction plate.
Special caution:
The outer edge of flywheel and brake friction plate should be clear and can’t contact with any oil or
grease, etc.
5.Slider (Fig.5)
Slider is steel casting and copper nut is set in it. The top of slider is cylindrical guide rail and the
bottom is X type guide rail. The adjusting block can adjust guide rail gap to 0.07~0.10mm. Diagonal
guide rail gap is equal. X type guide rail is lubricated by separate lubrication pump. The cylindrical
guide rail is put into the lubricating oil in the lathe bed cavity.
6.Ejector (Fig.6)
Two ejector rod , one connect on the slider, the other side connect on the ejector, the ejector seat with
a push rod, the length can be adjusted within the scope of the permit, when the equipment isn’t
needed , can come loose and slider connecting rod, gear into the foundation, equipped with a ejector
rod in the workbench.
7.Air pipe line (Fig.7)
The manipulating power of press comes from compressed air. Air pressure from workshop’s air line
should be not less than 0.6 MPA. Stop valve is the general switch for air line.
The compressed air for flywheel brake is sent into gas holder through air source treatment 3 units,
then sent into cylinder through the electromagnetic valve .
8.Lubrication (Fig.8)
This machine by the progressive type thin oil lubrication system and so on a separate enclosed thin
oil lubrication system, the thrust bearing and the bearing at the bottom of the flywheel strong
lubrication. When the tank oil level can not meet the requirements, the rotating high-pressure ball
type globe valve for oil supply from the beam big cavity.
Frame guide rail lubrication points are lubricated by manual oil pump;
The working surface in the air cylinder can be lubricated by oil sprayer fixed on the air pipe line.
Other parts can be lubricated by oil gun.
Special caution:
——All the lubricating position should be lubricated fully beforenew equipment working firstly.
——The grease electric thick oil pump used is half a paste mixture which is the mixture of
lubricating oil and machine oil according to the ratio of 4:1 evenly mixed.
——The thin lubrication system adopts special anti-wear lubricant, which is ordered from factories
appointed by the manufacturer.

5. Transportation, Installation and adjustment of the press


All the parts of the press are separately packed into boxes. When transportation, the hoisting position
of the press can’t incline and invert. During the period of warehousing, the press must have good
ventilating, and can not be subjected to moisture, immersion or contamination of any part by dirt.
When unpacking the case, parts should avoid in open air for a long time.
Before installing the press, should carefully clean anti-rust oil on the surface of parts with cotton
dipped in gasoline. But pay attention not to drip gasoline on the paint part of the press in order to
avoid the paint fall off. Can’t clean with metal object and sand paper, after cleaning, dry with a clean
cotton yarn. Then the work surface coated with lubricating oil and antirust oil.
——The outer edge of flywheel and brake friction plate should keep dry and clean, can’t have any
oil, water, etc.
If a part is dirty during the installation, all of the part must be disassembled, and clean carefully to
install.
The foundation of press should be done as the drawing of foundation in operating instruction based
on field condition. The building professionals design the foundation construction drawing, then do
the construction operation.
Before the second grouting, the operator must check carefully the longitudinal and transverse level of
the table by the level instrument. Its levelness should be 0.2/1000. Then tighten the foundation bolt,
and then do the second grouting according to foundation drawing, when pouring, the layer of second
grouting must be full of concrete and have not any slots with the foundation.
After assembled and concrete setting firm, the operator can adjust the precision and performance
according to the steps below.
—Based on JB/T5198-2007《die forging screw press precision》to adjust the press’s whole geometric
accuracy.
—adjust the brake system reliability, when brake loosening , the gap between outer edge of flywheel
and brake friction plate keep on 1.5~3mm
—adjust the connection belt tightness between small belt pulley and big belt pulley of the drive
motor, to ensure reliable operation.
—adjust such working pressure parameter as liquid pressure, oil pressure, pneumatic pressure,
based on the principle diagram.
—check the lubrication of all lubricating points, check all lubricating points if oil is clean or not.
—Test the reliability of grounding device.
—Check whether there is any jam on relative motion parts.
—When installing and adjusting, non-work personnel shall not

6. Maintenance of press
The press can’t work in Max. stroke(400mm) when the press is used for rigid impaction including
pressing and correction, must increase the height of mould in order to reduce the stroke to
340~360mm( or reduce the motor speed). No matter in work or nonwork, The distance between the
slider bottom surface and work table pad surface (standard height is 100mm) must not be less than
400mm, Min. loading mold height must not be less than 480mm. Must not use board or objects
easily deformed to make up the mold height to strike.
In order to guarantee the use life of J58K-300 electric screw press, the maintenance of press should
observe the following procedures:
a. The operator must have professional knowledge and ability to operate and maintain the press.
b. Under any circumstances, the press must be operated in good lubrication condition, and be
lubricated in accordance with operating instruction. To check all the lubricating points at least once
every shift.
c. To check all fastening screw is loose or not once every shift.
d. The press can’t work over stroke, when changing the mould, should check the lower limit of slider
if it beyond the lower limit or not.
e. During the main motor running, must not enter into the press’s platform.
f. Must not strike with more than 1.6 times nominal force.
g. Make the suitable service plan, maintain and service the press periodically. Normally do a
comprehensive maintenance and service every week.

8. Safety protection device


J58K-400 electric screw press include the safety protection device as the following:
a. safety sign——including warning signs , etc
b. safety color——rotating parts, unidirectional rotation arrow,stop button is red color; slider outside
surface is black and yellow stripes or yellow color; oil and liquid pipe line and combustible pipeline
is brown color; air pipeline is light blue color, etc.
c. buffer device——In order to avoid rigid collision accident when slider moving upward with beam,
set buffer device on the top of slider. Normally should not have collision accident, once occurred,
must find the reason and troubleshoot soon.
d. Brake—— set in the platform to brake the flywheel, and main brake force must be mechanical
brake, to ensure the braking reliability.
e. Height lamp——in order to avoid overhead travelling crane collision, on the Max. top of press set
a red color height lamp for warning, generally set by users.
f. Platform and ladder——in order to protect personnel and convenience of maintaining equipment,
set the platform and ladder with warning signs, must not climbing when the machine
is running.

Caution:
1. The producer have right to amend the capability, parameter,structure, specification of parts and
type about the equipment.the practical configure of equipment in according with operation
instruction and the item of phase order and the design drawing or maintain drawing.
2. The use craft, situation, environment about the equipment must be showed to producer, special
craft, environment must be explained in the purchase order. producer has no responsibility if the
damage was result in use craft overstep the equipment capability and the worse environment.
3. This machine is a new forging equipment with mechanical and electrical integration. To operate
and maintain the equipment must by experienced worker. the operator must be followed the
stipulated rules of the usage instruction. Producer has no responsibility for the damage by wrong
operation.
4. The software is the controller centre of the machine. must not change, read, copy and modify it.
Producer has no responsibility for system crash or damage by the above operation.
5. when the equipment is working at first (run-in period ) the max. striking speed can't be more than
500 rotation per min. the speed of moving upward is not more than 350 rotation per min. and run-in
period shouldn't be less than 200 hours. after run-in period, the max. striking speed can't be more
than 800 rotation per min. the speed of moving upward shouldn't be more than 500 rotation per min.

6. Nominal force is allowed to use as working force for a long time.Maximum force is 1.6 times
than nominal force. If using the Maximum force for a long time, will reduce usage life of themachine.
the actual force must not be more than 1.6 times of nominal force.(overload). If overload often, will
damage the machine and parts seriously. When the workpiece deforming energy is small, total energy,
total travel strike is strictly prohibited to prevent damaging the machine due to overload.
7. When the main equipment is working to adjust the mould, any part of the body extend to the slide
and worktable is prohibited,avoid making body damage.
8. In order to prevent slider’s unexpected remove when maintaining the press or changing the mould,
should install safety support device between the slider and work table.
9. The safety color and safety sign about the press machine in according to the relate rules of PRC.
If use for a long period then the color will be fade or scathe, the user must touch up the paint or
repair.
10. In order to prevent other person enter the work place, the user must set obstruct along the work
place and set up warning sign.
11. Total check the air pressure, oil pressure, and bolt tightness should be done before working, so
the press can work in a good condition.
12. The user can’t provide the technical data about the equipment to the third party if no written
permit by producer.
13. During the written of the operation instruction, we try to make all the data complete and correct.
But we can’t make sure there is not any error.
