This work procedures is intended for review prior to commencing work on site. Each worker is to review the procedure and inspection before completing work of this task. In
addition to the below each worker is to ensure that they are trained in the usage of the equipment and that local laws and regulations are being adhered to.

Hazards (Dos and Don’ts)

Do’s
 Choose a tool that is appropriate for the task.
 Wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
 Ensure the tool is labelled as meeting required standards. (i.e. CSA approved)
 Inspect the tool before use to ensure it is in safe working condition.
 Ensure all tool guards are in place.
 Use tools designed to allow wrist to stay straight. Avoid using hand tools with your wrist bent.

Dont’s
 Use a tool for any other purpose than what is was designed to do.
 Use a worn or damaged tool.
 Use a tool without all guards in place.
 Use a tool without wearing proper PPE.
 Apply excessive force or pressure on tools.
 Do not carry a sharp tool in your pocket.
 Do not cut towards yourself when using cutting tools.
