It brought about a general revival in classical thought that mirrored what was going on in political and social
arenas of the time, leading to the French Revolution. The primary Neoclassicist belief was that art should express
the ideal virtues in life and could improve the viewer by imparting a moralizing message

Performance task:
Neoclassical Painting
Choose a Greek mythology or Roman historical character. Create a painting based on the character, taking into
consideration the characteristics used in a typical Neoclassical painting. Fill the background with an appropriate
setting.

IV. Agreement/ Assignment

Make your performance task at home, and be sure to follow instructions. Don't forget to turn it in your Google
classroom.
