Hi, I am Jessica Cargile and am extremely excited for the opportunity to run for the position of

Danvers Library trustee. Danvers is such an amazing community, filled with great people who have
given so much to me and my family. From my first trip to grocery with my two young kids (where a
wonderful woman helped me get everything into my car in a rain storm) to the amazing shops and
business owners that have been so welcoming, this truly is a great community. I knew Danvers was
home the moment we settled in. Now, I would love to give back to the town which has taken me and
my family in with open arms.
When I heard of an opening for library trustee, my mind started to think of ideas I believe could help.
Libraries assist us all in being a bigger part in the community and bond future residence with the
past. They allow us all to continue to grow while forging pride of where we came from.  “Bad Libraries
create collections, good libraries build services, great libraries build communities.” - R. David Lankes.
The role of a trustee is to take the needs of the community and articulate them in a way that will
better them and challenge them to be greater. It is to help with new ideas for fundraising and
planning for the current and new leadership to succeed. I would love the opportunity to fulfil this
role.
My background is interior design and project management. I am an independent contractor for an
architectural company. My portfolio of work spans from Healthcare design, higher education, K-12
public and private design, municipality design, lab design, fitness design, and corporate interiors. I
have worked on multiple library designs ranging in complexity. At Harvard Medical School Library,
we did many conceptual designs on how to incorporate the digital platforms into the
current library and to restack the existing library to meet their needs.  At the new Gates Middle
School in Scituate where we helped transformed the whole idea of a library into not one space but
spread throughout the whole school.
My goal is to take my past experiences and to help future developments of our current  library. I want
to help support the future chosen library director and current staff by ensuring them of appropriate
benefits and funding for professional development. I would like to ensure the libraries programs,
offerings and services are defined around community priorities. And lastly would love to help with
new ideas for fundraising and planning for leadership succession. I hope for your support in the
upcoming election and to get the opportunity to continue to grow the great community.
