2. Objective of the proposal

The aim of this proposal is to identification of major polluted zones in tamilnadu. To

identifying the major pollutant which is the source to affect the water and soil by
analyzing the physico-chemical characters of effluent and behaviors of soil by testing the
geotechnical properties of soil. To recognize the soil-pollutant interaction due to leaching
of effluent through the soil from qualitative and quantitative analysis by SEM, XRF and
XRD

3 Background/short descriptions

The Industrial effluents are discharged without proper treatment due to that various zones
are affected in tamilnadu such as Vellore, Salem, Erode, Namakkal and Tirunelveli.
Those zones are affected by diverse of effluent. To identifying the major pollutant which
is the source to affect the water and soil by analyzing the physico-chemical characters of
effluent like pH, Conductivity, Total solids, BOD, COD, Fluoride, Nitrogen,
Phosphorous, Iron, Nickel, Copper, Zink, Lead, etc. The behaviors of soil by testing the
geotechnical properties of soil like Specific gravity, Gradation of soil, Consistency limits,
Compaction, Permeability, Consolidation, Shear strength respectively. To recognize the
soil-pollutant interaction due to leaching of effluent through the soil from qualitative and
quantitative analysis by SEM, XRF and XRD

1. What problem are you trying to solve?

Disposal of effluents from industries without proper treatment of effluent, it will

increase the water and soil pollution at the point and nearby surrounding areas. So the
environmental problems will arises, sometimes human health also affected.

From this project to identify and trying to reduce the component which is the
major pollution causing by adding chemicals.
2. Is the solution already available?

Now a day we use the treatment plants. From existing idea I introduce pilot plant
to remove the specific component, which is the major pollution causing element.

4. Expected results

Identification of Pollutant, Assessment Report creation, Introduction of pilot plant.
