TOPIC 6 – IDENTIFY POSSESSION AND LOCATION OF OBJECTS

Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:


- Talk about their school
- Practice identifying objects and items.

Target language
Vocabulary:
1. Review school items
2. Prepositions: in, on, at.
3. Ordinal numbers: 1st – 10th.
Structure:
1. How many …. are there …? – There are …
2. Which grade/ class are you in? – I’m in Grade ../ Class ..
3. It’s big/ small

Activity 1: FIND THE NEW FRIEND.


Objective: Students are able to ask and answer for their school information
Materials: Worksheet 1
Procedure:
1. Pre-teach the structure on the board for the students.
2. Which grade/ class are you in? – I’m in Grade ../ Class ..
3. Explain that they are going to take part in an activity where they have to find the new
friend in the English club.
4. Deliver a piece of information to each student. Tell them they will be that character.
5. Show the information of the new student on the screen.
6. Have the students stand up go around and find the new student by asking for the
information.
7. Get around and monitor the students’ asking and answering process.

Activity 2: SCHOOL EXCHANGE

Objective: Students are able to practice asking and answering for information.
Materials: Worksheet 1
Procedure:
1. Pre-teach the structures.
2. Explain that students are going to exchange the information of their schools to others.
3. Students remain in their group.
4. Give each student a random school image and an interview sheet.
5. Students in the group then take it in turn ask and answer the questions to get the
information about their friends’ schools.
**Students are allowed to make up the floor and the class.

Activity 3: MY SCHOOL
Objective: Students practice listening for details.
Material: Worksheet 1
Procedure:
1. Explain that students are going to where the family member is.
2. Give each student a worksheet.
3. Play the Audio file.
4. Have the students do the task.
5. Call on some students to give answer individually.
6. Play the Audio file again and check with the whole class.
Transcript:
Tania: Hi. I’m Tania. What’s your name?
Jing: Hello. My name’s Jing. Tania: Nice to meet you, Jing. What class are you in?
Jing: I’m in class 1B. And you?
Tania: Me too. I’m in Class 1B too.
Jing: Who’s our teacher?
Tania: Mr. Smith. Jing: And where’s our classroom?
Tania: This way. Come with me.
Jing: OK. Great.

Objective: Students are able to review the structure “There is…/ There are…” and prepositional
words.
Materials: Worksheet 1 (cut as indicated, one set for each group).
Procedure:
1. Explain that students are going to take part in an activity where they will make “There
is…/ There are…” sentences to describe the room.
2. Each group receives a set of cut up sentences.
3. Base on the picture on the screen, students have group discussion to form the correct
sentences describing the items in the picture.
4. After the groups have finished, students take it in turn to read one sentence, others will
check the answer by saying YES or NO.

Activity 5: DESIGN MY IDEAL SCHOOL


Objective: Students practice making presentation about the school.
Materials: Worksheet 1
Procedure:
1. Students remain in their groups.
2. Give each group a worksheet.
3. Students have 10 minutes to:
+ Build their school
+ Design the folded classroom.
4. Then, students prepare a short description about their school, they should say:
• What’s your school name?
• How many floors/ rooms does your school have?
• Which grade/ class are you in?
• What is in your classroom?
5. Call on the groups to make presentation in front of the class.
6. Listen and give corrective feedback.
