TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF INFECTION

 To be used for patients who have had a history of travel in the last 14 days (patient will be
monitored daily for fever, cough, and shortness of breath during the 14-day timeframe)
 Protocol to be discontinued after the 14 days have lapsed and no signs/symptoms noted
 Private room (door must be kept closed at all times)
 Aerosol-generating procedures will be performed in a negative pressure room
 Log must be kept on HCW who enter and exit the patient’s room
Perform

Reuse of supplies (mask and N95 respirator):


 Availability of supplies will dictate reuse. Items will be stored in individual paper bag
 Discard mask and N95 respirator after the following scenarios:
o Aerosol generating procedures
o Becomes contaminated with blood, respiratory or nasal secretions, or other bodily fluids
o Following close contact with any patient co-infected with an infectious disease requiring contact
precautions
o Damaged and/or straps are stretched out or torn
o Becomes difficult to breathe through

Patient transport guidelines:


 Prior to patient transport, transport equipment should be cleaned before exiting room. Patient should wear
a mask and be changed into a clean hospital gown
 HCW should wear all recommended PPE while in the patient’s room. During transport, HCW will wear mask
and eye protection
Linen
 Single bag (unless bed bugs, scabies, or lice present)
 Contained at point of use (i.e. patient’s room)
Trash and Biomedical waste (red bag)
 Single bag
 Contained at point of use (i.e. patient’s room)
Environmental Control (Daily and Terminal)
 EPA registered disinfectant (appropriate for SARS-CoV-2) will be used
