    INSULATION RESISTANCE AND POLARIZATION INDEX TEST FOR WINDING


    PROCEDURE (Note 1)
    Measure IR between phases and earth by IR tester for 1 min.
    Test voltage shall be 500Vdc for motors rated 1kVac or less,
    2500Vdc for those rated 5kVac or less, and 5000Vdc for those rated over 5kVac.
    Measurement of polarization index is required for a motor over 1kVac only.
    If the 1 min insulation resistance is above 5000 MΩ, the calculated P.I. may not be meaningful
