Event description and most likely causes
Description of Event

Siemens unit ”A” tripped twice at 11:50 AM & 5:10 PM due to false GG Chanel 2 over speed. Accompanied with low vent
pressure of the primary seals of both DE & NDE DGSs.

Actions already taken prior to restart

Applied Siemens procedure to inject 10 bar Nitrogen pluses in the vent line of the primary seal several times, so that the syste
became healthy.
Every time the turbine failed to start we had to perform reset for AC450 and to adjust the primary seal vent pressure manually
using the manual isolation valve D/S 40-PCV-02.
Replaced the proximitor of the speed sensor MBT10CS010
Replaced the solenoind valve (versa) of fuel isolation valve (MBP10AA030) as the turbine failed to start many times due to fue
isolation wrong position.

Initial thought

the over speed signal was not actual as the GG speed did not increase or reached the trip limit.

Most likely causes

Any falut signal from the items of the speed sensor measurment loop. the most susbected in that loop was the proximiter,
so, it was replaced by a new one

Assessment of causes by On Site investigation

GG OVER SPEED CH2 trip was due to fault signal after cheking the trends of the GG speed sensors
the troubles in the seal gas system was most likely due to slow responce of vent pressure control valve (40-PCV-02)
