1. Disconnect battery ground (—) cable.
2. Remove transmission cover (A) and retain O-ring.

7. Install retainer (D) to transmission using two M12 x Specification

CAUTION: Clutch weighs approximately 185 kg

(410 lb). Use proper lifting device for clutch
installation. Failure to do so may result in
injury.

a. Install six special M12 x 55 studs into PTO clutch
assembly.

Cast Gudgeon; Install four special M12 x 55 studs into Cast Gudgeon Shown
PTO clutch assembly. Studs are installed in top and

3. Install clutch to gudgeon using four 13 x 25 mm

washers and M12 nuts (A). Tighten nuts to
specification.

Align PTO Clutch-To-Transmission
1. Using JDG1327 Alignment Tool, install adjustable

pointer (A) to PTO clutch yoke and fixed pointer (B) to
transmission yoke.
2. To check alignment, turn threaded bushing from

adjustable pointer to fixed pointer. Threaded bushing
should telescope over fixed pointer.

3. If adjustment is needed, three options are available to
achieve alignment:
• Transmission mounting bolts can be loosened and

transmission repositioned to provide horizontal
adjustment.
• Attaching nuts can be loosened and PTO clutch
repositioned to provide horizontal and vertical A—Adjustable Pointer
adjustment. B—Fixed Pointer
• Gudgeon shims can be redistributed. (See Gudgeon
Shim Adjustment on next page.)
4. When alignment is achieved, tighten all mounting

hardware to specifications and verify.

Gudgeon Shim Adjustment (if needed)
Vertical Misalignment
IMPORTANT: AR98492 thrust packs (B) must remain

positioned against front frame plate as
originally installed.
1. Support gudgeon and front frame.
2. Remove lower hinge pin and shim pack.

3. Position the gudgeon so pointers are aligned.
4. Determine correct shim packs by placing shims and

thrust pack to fill space between front frame plate (C)
and gudgeon lower plate (D). Do the same for space
on top of front frame plate.

CHECK PTO CLUTCH FORE AND AFT

ALIGNMENT
IMPORTANT: Determine correct number of shims for

proper alignment.
1. Remove fixed pointer from transmission yoke.
2. Remove grease zerk from upper hinge pin and install

180 mm (7 in.) long threaded pin (A).
3. Turn threaded bushing from adjustable pointer until it

contacts pin. Maintain this setting.

4. Remove adjustable pointer from PTO clutch yoke and
install on transmission yoke (B).

5. Lengthen threaded bushing an additional 3 mm
(0.125 in.) (approximately 1-1/2 turns).
The remaining pointer-to-pin gap, shown by (C),
determines number of 24H1344 shims to be added
between PTO clutch and gudgeon plate.
IMPORTANT: Either 0 or 1 shim will be indicated. If a

shim does not quite fit in the gap, it’s
more favorable to leave it out.

4. Route hoses through frame joint to transmission.
13. Attach hose assemblies (H and L) to adapters with

fitting (H) and if above (Serial Number
022167-) install RE236170 fitting (N) to
PTO lube line. RE236170 fitting is
identified by V-notches in hex of fitting.
Discard 61H1161 fitting if not used.

If RE236170 V-notched fitting is used,
check to make sure front axle lube hose
is equipped with RE236169 V-notched
fitting (A). If not, order RE236169 fitting

Note: Refer to DTAC Solution 65200, as
tractor could have been updated. The
front axle and PTO dropbox fittings are RE236169 Front Axle Lube Fitting
orificed and need to be used in sets for

pump to provide sufficient lubrication to
each axle.
NOTE: New fittings are factory installed above (Serial

Number 022167-).
NOTE: Refer to Install and Route Dropbox Hoses

4. Install fittings (E and H) with O-rings (B and G).
5. Attach hose assembly (F) to rear axle and dropbox

using O-rings (D).
6. Attach hose assembly (J) to dropbox and existing lube

hose (A), using O-rings (I).
7. Retain hose assembly with clip (L), M8 x 25 cap screw

(K) and 0.493 x 0.675 x 0.625 in. spacer (M).

1. Attach brackets (A) to both sides of front frame 6. With Cast Gudgeon; Install left-hand (N) and

2. Attach cross bracket (C) using two M10 x 25 cap screws (Q), 8.4 x 25 mm flat washers (R) and

3. Attach shield (G) using existing hardware, 11 x 21 x flat washers (U) and M10 x 25 cap screws (D).

1. Install PTO control switch (A) to plate (B) using two

0.138 x 0.750 in. screws (C) and hex nuts (D). This
assembly will be used in Step 3.
CAUTION: Avoid possible personal injury. Glass

is heavy and difficult to handle. An assistant is
needed to help remove glass.

9. Attach bracket to console with two M8 x 16 cap

screws.
10. Route PTO cable under cab to control console.

Connect cable to lever assembly with cotter pin,
0.265 x 0.750 in. washer and retaining ring (A).
Secure cable to bracket with R72661 clamp (C), M8 x
30 cap screw and nut (B). Tighten cap screw to
specification.

14. PTO lever adjustment procedure:
a. Position clutch operating lever (D) in the

disengaged and locked position. Lever should be
all the way back in slot.

c. Loosen jam nut (A).

d. Adjust yoke until hole aligns with operating arm
hole. Install locking pin (B).
e. Tighten jam nut (A).

disengages and lever locks in disengaged position.
