 Gourav Vaid Physics Statement of purpose
The Magnetism and Superconductors in the field of Condensed matter Physics has
many applications in the real world. I was fascinated by superconductors and
magnetic materials due to their unique properties during the course of study.

During my post-graduation I have completed the academic project entitled

“MAGLEV TRAINS” under the supervision of Prof. Vinay Gupta and Prof. Amitabh
Mukherjee at University of Delhi. In this project we build a miniature working
model of Maglev Train. Through this project our aim is to provide knowledge
about the various aspects of this new emerging automotive technology called
MAGLEV TRAINS.

While pursuing my studies, I found my interest in subjects like quantum

mechanics and Solid state physics.

In order to build the conceptual understanding I used to read standard books (i.e.
Introduction to Solid State Physics by Charles Kittel and Introduction to Quantum
mechanics by D. J. Griffiths) and attending classroom lectures regularly. I also read
a few research articles related to the topic superconductors.

From there on, I got highly motivated to pursue my higher studies in condensed
matter physics (Ph.D. Program) from a reputed institution. Furthermore, I am
confident that Ph.D. physics program at Indian Institute of Bombay is a great
opportunity for me to do so. It would be grateful to become a part of this
institution and pursuing my research activities here.

My Goal is to contribute something for the physics community by using my

background knowledge of these subjects. I would like to pursue a Ph.D. followed

with eager young minds.
