Technology and Handwork Practice DPT114/3

OBJECTIVE

1. To expose to the fitting process as well as the importance of hand tools and
process selection.

INTRODUCTION

Fitting is the process where it involve the range of looseness or tightness that
can result from the application of a specific combination of allowance and tolerance
in the design of mating part features. Tolerances is the permissible variation in the
dimensions of a part. / is the limit of acceptable unintended deviation from nominal or
theoretical dimension. Allowance is the specified difference in dimensions between
mating parts. / is a planned deviation between an actual dimension and nominal or
theoretical dimension, or between an intermediate – stage dimension and intended
final dimension.

PROCEDURE:

1. The procedure of the practice depends on the project’s drawing.

2. Fabricate fitting product refer the technical during given a during laboratory
session.
3. Students should follow the steps by steps procedure/process instructed by
PLV during workshop session.
4. Observation involved processes during the practices, precaution and your
find recommendation for improvement.
5. Based on the practices and discussion, make your overall conclusion.

RESULTS AND DISCUSS

1. Capture image of the part (Top view) :

a. Fabricated part A ( male) or part B (female)
b. Fabricated part A + part B (fitting)
Discuss fitting condition based on captured image.
2. Measure dimensions of the product. Compare drawing specification versus
actual measurement data.
No. Dimension Specification Measurement

3. Analyze product defects (defects image, type, causes and solutions).
