Consider the following for questions 1 and 2. In a Buck DC-DC converter, L = 30 µH. It is operating in DC steady
state under the following conditions: 𝑉 = 150 V, ∆𝑣 = 5 𝑉, D = 0.35, 𝑃 = 2000 W, and 𝑓 = 50 kHz. Assume ideal
components
Question 1:

Question 2:
a) Estimate the value of the filter inductance that should be used if the converter is to remain in CCM at one-
third the maximum output power.
b) In this Buck converter, the output load is changing. Calculate the critical value of the output load 𝑃 below
which the converter will enter the discontinuous conduction mode of operation.

c) Calculate the critical value of the inductance L such that this Buck converter remains in the continuous
conduction mode at and above 𝑃 = 100 W under all values of the input voltage 𝑉 in a range from 100V to 200
V.

Question 3:
Connecting six BP 3230T solar panels (from question 1) in series will create a solar array with an output power of
6 ∗ 230 = 1380 𝑊, 𝑉 = 220 𝑉 DC and 𝐼 = 8.4 𝐴. Design a full-bridge DC/DC converter to connect the solar string
to a 3-phase gird tied inverter (line to line grid voltage 𝑉 = 208 𝑉, 60 Hz, and modulation scheme is SPWM).
