NEKO ATSUME CAT (SNOWBALL)

MATERIALS
Size E or F crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn in white and red
Black 6mm safety eyes
Black embroidery floss
Stuffing

HEAD
Using white yarn:
Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6 stitches}
Round 2: Sc 2 in the same stitch 6 times. {12 stitches}
Round 3: [Sc 1, sc 2 in the next stitch] 6 times. {18 stitches}
Round 4: [Sc 2, sc 2 in the next stitch] 6 times. {24 stitches}
Rounds 5-7: Sc 24. {24 stitches}
Round 8: [Sc 2, dec 1] 6 times. {18 stitches}
Round 9: [Sc 1, dec 1] 6 times. {12 stitches}
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Attach safety eyes between rows 5 and 6, approximately 5 stitches apart. Then using
black embroidery floss, embroider a nose and mouth.

EARS (make x2)

Using white yarn, ch 2, then crochet the following:
Row 1: In the 2nd ch from the hook, sc 1, then ch 1 and turn. {1 stitch}
Row 2: Sc 2 in the same stitch. {2 stitches}
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew on to the top of the head.

Stuff head firmly with fiberfill.

BODY
Using white yarn:
Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6 stitches}
Round 2: Sc 2 in the same stitch 6 times. {12 stitches}
Round 3: [Sc 1, sc 2 in the next stitch] 6 times. {18 stitches}
Rounds 4-8: Sc 18. {18 stitches}
Round 9: [Sc 1, dec 1] 6 times. {12 stitches}
Fasten off and tuck in the end. Stuff firmly with fiberfill, and sew the head on to the
body.

LEGS (make x4)

Using white yarn:
Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6 stitches}
Rounds 2-3: Sc 6. {6 stitches}
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew on to the body.

BALL
Using red yarn:
Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6 stitches}
Round 2: Sc 2 in the same stitch 6 times. {12 stitches}
Round 3: [Sc 2, sc 2 in the next stitch] 4 times. {16 stitches}
Round 4: [Sc 7, sc 2 in the next stitch] twice. {18 stitches}
Rounds 5-6: Sc 18. {18 stitches}
Round 7: [Sc 7, dec 1] twice. {16 stitches}
Round 8: [Sc 2, dec 1] 4 times. {12 stitches}
Stuff ball firmly with fiberfill.
Round 9: Dec 6 times. {6 stitches}
Close off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew on to all four paws.

TAIL
Using white yarn:
Round 1: Sc 4 in a magic ring. {4 stitches}
Rounds 2-6: Sc 4. {4 stitches}
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew on to the kitty’s bottom. Then using black
embroidery floss, sew a little “x” over the butt!
