Q: Describe and explain Nya’s journey every day.

A: As Nya takes her journey to get water she plays with the container, switching the container from one hand to
another, swinging it from side to side, cradling the container, also she could drag it, creating dust clouds as she
walked.

Q: How would you feel if you had such an essential responsibility like her?

A: If I had such the responsibility as Nya’s I would think it was a burden since this generation is mainly based on
technology. Though, if I were to be born into it, it might be just another chore in that perspective.

Q: What do we learn about Salva’s life and culture from the first chapter? Is it anything like your own?

A: Salva’s life is mainly of watching cattle and getting an education. I learned that it must have been hard and scary
that he was forced to run. His life is more complicated and harder than mine. I also learned, to the behalf of
learning about his culture, that Sudan was a country that was divided in half

Q: What three questions occupy Salva’s thoughts? Predict the answers to those questions. What might be going
through your mind under the same circumstances?

A: The three questions that occupy Salva’s thoughts are: Where are we going? Where is my family? When will I see
them again? It can be predicted that they are going to a safehouse, and his family may have already been there,
lastly, he might see his family as he reaches “The Bush”. Under these circumstances, the questions that might be
going through my head are: Are we there yet? Will I ever see my dad again? and Where am I?
