GROUP 6: PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (PSA)

Working Title:

Race i̶s̶m̶: Struggle for racial equality

Slogan:

“Creating a world where racial equality would no longer be an option but a choice”

As stated by the Australian Human Rights Commission. There is no excuse for

racism. Smedley define Racism as the belief that humans may be divided into separate
and exclusive biological entities called “races”; that there is a causal link between
inherited physical traits and traits of personality, intellect, morality, and other cultural
and behavioral features; and that some races are innately superior to others. News
about harassment and killing of innocent people have been circulated online. One of the
latest violent examples is the death of George Floyd, after that, cases of harassment
have been increasing. From June 2020 up to this day threats to Asians, Asians
Americans did not stop instead it is getting worse and worse. Given attention for these
instances we must take an action for at least lessen and propose to stop inequality
rather go for racial equality. Encyclopedias interpret racial equality as the belief that
individuals, regardless of their racial characteristics, are morally, politically, and legally
equal and should be treated as such.
It might be impossible for an instance we will get the equality we want. But one
thing we can hold as one of our foundation is the success of gender equality
movement. Racism and gender equality may have different goals, but we can learn
from them on how they are able to push through their freedom. The victory of the
women’s movement shows there is a scope for developing transnational solidarity when
it comes to equality. It is this switch to becoming an international movement that is
crucial for success. But with our voices to spread the word to different platform using
our slogan we can create a world where racial equality would no longer be an option
but a choice.
Rationale:
With the growing trend of racism issues, threats and incidents around the world
that was fueled more by the COVID-19 Outbreak during this time, when if we continue
to be ignorant and voiceless can deepen and worsen the racial inequality that is
happening in our society. With this, our PSA will be created not only for the purpose of
simply tackling this issue but more importantly to cure the social cancer of our time and
encourage everyone to create a community where members are equally valued and
respected with the idea in our minds that we are all better than discrimination,
stereotyping, and racism. To reiterate, raising awareness about racism is not to be
given utmost priority in our PSA, for issues and cases that have arisen previously have
already done enough that somehow-somewhat it became a cliche. We aim to
encourage action to fully disintegrate the suffix "ism" from the word race, and promote,
celebrate, and advocate differences among races.

Objectives:
The world is full of pitfalls. Since ancient until this period, wars, genocide,
violence, and poverty. Racism is one of the hearts of those predicaments.
We observe that amidst the Pandemic, racial hatred and prejudices are being
emphasized, hate crimes and violence against Asians are all over the news and we are
being disturbed. As you can see on our PSA title, the ism is cross out on the word race,
it implies our purpose to eliminate prejudices on races. Therefore, the general objective
of our PSA is not just to raise awareness, but also to encourage everyone in the world
to take action against Racism and promote the so-called ‘human race as one.
To achieve:
1. Cultural and social wellness
2. And World peace
