KINS 4306 Internship Spring 2021

4/24/21

Weekly Journal #14

For this week at the LEC it was a pretty eventful one. For Monday we had our regular

routine at the center which consisted of recreation therapy, art kits, and nutrition at Lockerly. For

recreation we played kickball which was very fun. We ate lunch with everyone then returned to

the center for some music and getting everything ready for that night. Monday was the Black and

White Gallery which is an event that we host each year to showcase some of the clients

photography skills and sell them throughout the day. Once everyone left the LEC, we had to get

perepared for the gallery by getting all the pictures and items packed up and put into the van. The

gallery was hosted at Lockerly so we had to set up chairs, tables, the pictures, a meral, and many

other things. Overall the night was a success and we sold a good amount of pictures. I highly

enjoyed the gallery and would love to come back to it. On Tuesday we did morning workouts

with the guys and some art kits. I hosted Therapeutic Drumming since it was nice outside and we

had a blast playing music and working on memorization and rhythm. After drumming I hosted

social hour and ate lunch with everyone online. After lunch we did brain games which consisted

of 10 strikes. After brain games we ended off the day with music. On Wednesday we had our

individual workouts and included some others to add more fun and excitement to the workouts.

After workouts we went with the girls and did some art kits and some cross word puzzles. After

that we ate lunch outside with everyone and got ready for some more brain games. We did some

jeopardy and ended off the day with music. On Thursday we did the morning workouts with the

guys then went to the Greenway with the girls and Abigail Hasty and got some exercise by
walking around the area. Once we got back we played some games then ate lunch. After lunch

we decided to host a COVID-19 education activity during brain games teaching them the

importance on wearing a mask, washing hands, etc. After that we played some music to end the

day. On Friday we did some more individual workouts and got ready to go on trips. One group

went to pick strawberries and the other went to Huelly Park and played some bocce ball and

other games and had a cookout. I went to the cookout and played some bingo with them as well.

After that we came back and did some music to end off the day. We then had a meeting for our

concert that we will have next week and ended the day. The concert will be very fun and I hope a

lot of people can come out and support them.
