Lesson Reflections
Thursday, 3/18/21

Period 1: These students were slow to get into the activity, but once someone suggested giving
the main character superpowers and I didn’t shut it down, they became much more interested in
the activity. I’m hoping the other classes will enjoy it just as much.

Period 4: Like the first period, this group started slow but picked up steam as we went, and did a
nice job overall with the exercise. However, there were fewer people readily contributing
throughout, so I’ll be interested to see if some students struggle tomorrow after not participating
much today.

Period 5: This period got a little wild with their story, so I had to rein them in a couple of times
to prevent things from going completely off the rails. Still, I think we were left with a good
character to help them understand the process leading into tomorrow, when they’ll do it
independently.

Period 6: I wish this class had been the first one to complete this activity, because I definitely
think they did the best job with it. It would’ve been great as an example to other classes to help
them understand how to connect the past, present, and future together when developing
characters.

Virtual: In what is becoming a recurring theme, it’s difficult to adapt these lessons for a virtual
audience. The students were pretty responsive in the chat, but it simply wasn’t the same
atmosphere. We struggle to get the students to turn on their cameras or even speak, so instead of
trying to force that, we’re trying to find ways around that.
