Assessment # 1

1. Describe the important elements of literature.

The three (3) important elements of literature is like a guidelines or an instrument to the
writer in making a great literary works that will surely get the attention of the reader. the
first important elements of literature is the emotional appeal. From the root word
'emotion', this element pertains to the emotional feedback of the reader towards the
literary works. On the other hand, intellectual appeal talks about the new information or
knowledge that will get by the reader and remind him about the things he already
forgotten. The last element is the humanistic value which pertains on how the literary
work change the life of the reader into the better one.

2. Why is a short story, classified as interpretative rather than escape literature?

The interpretative literature is written to broaden and deepen and sharpen our
awareness of life and it takes us through the imagination, deeper into the real world like
it enables us to understand our troubles while the escape literature it is written purely for
entertainment and let us become totally immersed in a fantasy or alternate reality. The
short story is classified as an interpretative literature for the reason it only evolves in just
one character and the theme of the of the story symbolizes the life experiences of the
character.

Formal essay a piece of writing that informs or persuade its audience while the informal
essay is written for pleasure. It help to organize your thoughts on a specific topic to
reflect on readings and to express different points of view. They are both informative
and convincing but the different is the informal essay is write in less formal expression.

The difference of these two is that drama, utilizes plot and character, develop a theme,
arouses emotion or appeals to humor and may either escapist or interpretative in its
dealing of life while the poetry is a type of literature also that based on the interplay of
words and rhythm. it often employs rhyme and meter. Words are strung together to form
sounds, images and ideas that might be too complex or abstract to describe directly.
For me, I really more appreciate drama than poetry for the reason it's a fictional story
represented through dialogue and performance in stage.

5. Read a favorite poem. Try to understand the value of the poem. Write a short
essay about it.

I don't have any favorite poem but this time, there is a poem I got interested and it was
entitled "To My Fellow Children"( Sa Aking Mga Kababata) written of our very own Dr.
Jose Protacio Rizal. It was one of the known made poetry of our great hero at the age of
7. Rizal wrote this poem because he wanted to inspire us to use our talent and be the
best we can be. Aside from that, as a part of Filipino youth, he encourage us to be
proud of ourselves, of who we are and the very first step to do that is to use our native
language in communicating. Amazement and being proud that I've felt after reading his
poem which brought more determination and inspiration for me to pursue my dream to
become a teacher who graduated of course BSED - Major in Filipino. His poem may not
my favorite poem but it changes my whole being and I cheered for that.

During the era of silent movies, every cinema house employed musicians who played
music that suited the tempo and varying moods of the scenes as they were projected on
the screen while others used phonography records for economy. The musician required
to see the pictures and make musical arrangements that suited the tempo and moods
on different scenes. On the other hand, the musical director, in charge of the music,
composed new songs and wrote their orchestration, repaired background music,
created music scores, and supervised all recording and re-recording.

Make-up consists of the sticky substances, which are applied on the face of the actors
before facing the camera. The hair of the actress should suit the part she place in the

However, if they did not have particular attire or suit which the script required, the
producer supplied them at his own expense.

3. Acting and the Stars

Acting is the art of portraying or impersonating a character. A performer should forget

his own personality and live the life of the character his portraying. The costumes, hair,

Color films and their processing cost twice as much the black and white film. At the

Beautiful setting gives beauty to the pictures and pleases the eye. The Art directors
should know the natural setting and build artificial sets. They should get the inspiration
from liberal producers and disappoint the stingy ones.

Technicians exert efforts in making the dialogue clear and music of fine quality.
Recording is the process where an orchestra playing the music or song is being
recorded in the sound track by the recording apparatus and playback is the method

Dance

Assessment #5

1. Can there be dance without music? Why? Why not? Elaborate.

How does dance exist? Why do people want to dance? As an individual how
does dance make you feel? And lastly, can there be dance without music? Does these
questions makes you wonder? Did you stop for moment and think what could be the
answer of these questions?

According to the study published in the Public Library of Science's genetics

journal in 2016, the ability to dance was actually connected to the ability to survive and
dancing, was a way for our prehistoric ancestors to bond and communicate, particularly
during tough times. We, humans dance for all kinds of reasons. We dance to mourn, to
celebrate, to heal, to give thanks, to preserve cultural heritage and treasured legends, to
demonstrate physical prowess, to assert individuality, to provoke and to entertain.
Almost anyone can dance, regardless of age or ability. By dancing, it improves our
spatial awareness, as well as raising the heart rate and causing a release of feel-good
endorphins into the bloodstream. Dancing surely makes us feel good because it makes
us feel alive.

About the question that can there be a dance without music, of course it can.
Don't you ever tried dancing without music? Like you just having fun conversation of
your peers then you just found yourself swaying your hips and waving your hands in the
air because of too much happiness you feel with your close friends? Dance and music
are separate forms but shared elements like rhythm, time, impulse, etc. They can both
exist alone but the craft of each contributes to the experience of the other.

Just like the importance of our language in our life, music have the important part
in dance but it doesn't mean that dance couldn't exist without music. In dancing, music
brings energy and inspire people to dance. We, as dancers, can create our own music
by our body movements. We shouldn't forget that our body is an instrument and dance,
comes from our soul. Haven't you try dancing in your mind? Like you make your own
beat and set mood then dance whole heartedly? I'm sure you do.

Therefore dance comes from the deepest part of our heart. The happier we feel,
the more we want to dance.
