The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of a
variety of fictional texts, narrative nonfiction, and poetry.
b) Compare and contrast various forms and genres of fictional
text.
c) Identify conventional elements and characteristics of a variety
of genres.
d) Describe the impact of word choice, imagery, and literary
devices including figurative language.
1. Class will begin with a minilesson on the elements of
poetry.
2. Students will access the simulation and be asked to
generate four poems utilizing the tool.
3. Students will paste the generated poems into a Google
Document.
4. Once the students have created four poems, they will be
allowed to revise the generated poems as they see fit.
5. The students will make note of any changes they make
to their poem and explain why they feel these changes
to the poems are necessary.
6. Students will be required to highlight any examples of
figurative language in their poem and explain what type
of figurative language it is.
7. Students will be placed into breakout rooms where they
can share their poetry if they would like.
