Product Description:
Part Number: Number:

054-0240-001 CSU-1 Tubing Tester, 2-3/8" 054-0240-001

Features/Description

• Available for both 2-3/8" and 2-7/8" O.D. tubing.

• Pressure test tubing while running in hole.
• For use with any retrievable set-down type squeeze packer.
• 10,000 psi pressure rating. (Not including tubing or companion tools)
• Easy to operate.

The MAP Model "CSU-1" Upstrain Tubing Tester is normally attached directly above a MAP
Model CS-1 Squeeze Packer (or any model set-down type packer) and is used to pressure
test the tubing string while running in the hole prior to a squeeze operation.

Operating Instructions
The tester is run with the flapper valve in the locked open position. To close the flapper for
testing, take at least 1-1/2 right-hand turns at the tool (with tubing in neutral) then pick-up six
inches. Right hand rotation moves the cam segment and jay pin from position #1 around to
position #2. Picking-up then moves both items to position #3, the testing position. This position
must be held while testing.

If the squeeze packer has been set and the tubing tested and it is necessary to move down
hole, set down enough weight to overcome any differential pressure on the flapper valve that
exists from above. This will open the flapper valve and move the cam segment and jay pin
back to position #1, allowing the operator to impart left-hand torque, upstrain, or set-down
weight until the flapper valve is again closed for testing.

When setting the squeeze packer the tubing tester should be placed in the open position to
utilize the full bearing surface of the mating shoulders. If the packer is picked-up to spot
cement, the cam segment should be in position #1 to assure the flapper valve is open while
cementing.

It is recommended that retrieval of the packer be started with the tubing tester in the testing
position #3 to again utilize the full bearing surface of the mating shoulders. To prevent pulling a
wet string, setting down and moving the cam segment to position #1 may reopen the flapper
valve.

Assembly Instructions

1. Install Lock Ring (item 3) fully on Top Sub (item 2).

2. Install O-Rings (items 20 and 21) on Top Sub (item 2).

(item 10) in Flapper ears and insert Hinge Pin (item 9) through holes provided in Flapper and
Top Sub.

5. Screw Outer Housing (item 12) fully on Top Sub (item 2) until it bottoms then back the
Housing off until notch in Housing aligns with slot in threads of Top Sub.
6. Place Lock Key (item 4) in slot and notch and screw down Lock Ring (item 3) until it bottoms
then tighten securely.

7. Install O-Ring (item 15) on Control Mandrel (item 19).

8. Install Lock Ring (item 3) fully on Bottom Sub (item 16).

9. Install O-Ring (item 14) on Bottom Sub (item 16).

10. Place Cam Spring (item 17) in Cam Segment (item 18) then place Cam Segment inside
groove in Bottom Sub. Slide Bottom Sub over Control Mandrel.

11. Install Jay Pin (item 13) through Bottom Sub and into jay slot of Control Mandrel.

12. Screw Bottom Sub (item 16) into Outer Housing (item 12) until it bottoms then back the
