REFLECTION on your lesson plan Name __Sydney Deason______________

An important part of teaching is reflecting on your lessons. After we video your lesson, we will
share it with you. Please fill out the following and return within one week.

List 3 things you did well in your lesson:

1. Working well with students

2. Staying on task

3. Keeping students engaged

List 3 things that you need to improve on in your lesson:

1. Speaking louder

2. Walk around and check for students to be done with their assignments instead of standing
there and guessing when everyone is done

3. Give estimated time for students to complete their tasks

For each of the 3 improvement areas, what would you do next time to make it better?

1. I will project my voice to make sure every student can hear and understand me. I talked
normal the first time, but the masks make it hard for students to comprehend when I mumble.

2. I will walk around and ask groups how things are coming along. I will also ask if they have
any questions for me about the task at hand. This way, I am engaging myself with the students
and letting them know that they can come to me for help if they need.

3. Instead of guessing when students will be done, I will tell students that they ave 1-2 minutes
to complete each step of the assignment. This way, students can stay on task instead of talking
while waiting for other groups.

Do you feel you prepared enough for your lesson? Why or why not?

I felt that I was prepared for the most part for my lesson. I had a lesson plan and was able to
practice before hand. The only thing I didn't prepare for was the nerves. I wanted to make sure
that things went smoothly but it was hard for me at first. After the first 15 minutes I felt that I was
more confident and ready to teach.
How did you feel about the classroom climate during your lesson?

The classroom climate in my classroom was amazing. The students behaved very well while I
was teaching and lived up to their expectations. Students were engaged and involved

throughout the entire lesson. There was no negativity overall.

Did you differentiate for any of your students? How did you do this?

I gave students the opportunity to find area in their own way. I let the door open for students to
use their own methods to find the area of their notebooks and worksheet.

Was there anything that surprised you about how your students reacted to your teaching or how
they behaved during your lesson?

No, the students acted as they normally do. I was very impressed with how smoothly things
went and how good each student behaved.
For future lessons, what will you change about the way you plan or the way you present your
lessons?

I would prepare a few days before instead of just one day. I thought I had everything down, but
like I said before I was unprepared for how nervous I was. I wouldn't change anything about my
lesson because it was a good first experience.
