de Moldes
A Indústria Portuguesa de Moldes tem
vindo ao longo da última década a crescer
e a consolidar o seu posicionamento e
notoriedade no mercado internacional,
impulsionada, quer pela procura externa,
quer pelo conjunto de competências e
capacidades produtivas que oferece
aos seus clientes.
Atualmente, a indústria de moldes possui
536* empresas, dedicadas à conceção,
desenvolvimento e fabrico de moldes
e ferramentas especiais. Emprega
aproximadamente 11 200 trabalhadores,
com uma distribuição geográfica centrada
nas regiões da Marinha Grande e Oliveira
de Azeméis.
Portugal encontra-se entre os principais
fabricantes de moldes a nível mundial,
nomeadamente, na área da injeção de
plásticos (8º no mundo, 3º na Europa),
exportando cerca 85% da produção total.

Industry
The Portuguese Moulds Industry has been
growing and consolidating its reputation in
the international market, driven by external
demand, integrated competences and
capabilities, as innovative solutions, that
offers to its clients.
Nowadays, the moulds sector has 536*
small and medium enterprises, dedicated
to the conception, development and
manufacture of moulds and tools,
employing about 11 200 workers, with a
bipolar geographical distribution, in Marinha
Grande and Oliveira de Azeméis regions.
Portugal is among the world’s leading
manufacturers of moulds, particularly in
the area of injection moulds for plastics
(8th worldwide, 3rd in Europe), currently
exporting about 85% of total production.

Exportações
Em 2020, a exportação atingiu um valor
de, aproximadamente, 566* milhões de
euros, sendo o valor total de produção
estimado em 666 milhões de euros,
facto representativo de que Portugal,
ao longo dos anos, tem demonstrado
uma elevada capacidade de adaptação
às necessidades dos seus clientes e às
evoluções, quer dos mercados, quer das
tecnologias.
É um setor inovador e de alta intensidade
tecnológica que exporta a grande maioria
da sua produção, tendo, em 2020, como
principais mercados a Europa e a América
do Norte.

Exports
In 2020, exports reached a value of
566* million euros, being the total
production approximately 666 million
euros, representing the fact that Portugal,
over the years, has demonstrated a high
capacity of adaptation to the needs of
its clients and to developments, whether
of markets or technologies.
It’s an innovative and high-end technology
sector that exports the majority of its
production.
In 2020, the main markets were Europe and
North America.

Ao longo dos últimos anos, e apesar de
todos os constrangimentos verificados em
2020, a análise da evolução da balança
comercial demonstra a forte vocação
exportadora do setor na última década.
O saldo da balança comercial registou uma
tendência de crescimento, tendo passado
de 248 milhões de euros em 2010, para
397 milhões de euros em 2020.
Over the years, the trade balance analysis
shows the potential and export vocation of
the sector, despite the pandemic crisis in
2020.
A consistent growth from 248 million euros
in 2010, to 397 million euros in 2020, was
achieved.

A análise do gráfico anterior sublinha a
forte orientação exportadora do setor
(nunca é inferior a 80% da produção),
tendo o valor mais baixo sido registado
nos anos associados à crise conjuntural
do início da década. Por outro lado, é de
registar o crescimento assinalável que
a indústria nacional, nomeadamente de
plásticos e componentes tem assumido
nesta década, muitas vezes impulsionada
pelo alargamento da cadeia de valor das
empresas de moldes.
O valor total das exportações
portuguesas atingiu, em 2020,
566 milhões de euros, tendo as vendas
sido efetuadas para 84 mercados
(países) distintos, o que demonstra a
dimensão internacional e global desta
indústria.
The analysis of previous graph highlights
the strong and systematic export
orientation of the sector (never below 80%
of the production), having the lowest value
registered in the beginning of the decade.
Moreover, this situation, there’s also the
remarkable growth from national Industry,
especially on plastics and components,
has had over last years, often driven by the
expansion of toolmaking companies’ value
chain.
The total value of Portuguese exports

destinos das exportações portuguesas
foram: Espanha (19%), Alemanha (17%),
França (15%), República Checa (7%),
Polónia (4%) e Itália (3%).
Este grupo é seguido por Reino Unido,
Roménia e México. O “top ten” dos
mercados destino das exportações é
fechado pelos Estados Unidos.

Indústrias
A informação estatística, referente aos
principais clientes da indústria de moldes,
denota que a indústria automóvel tem
mantido
a sua importância no desenvolvimento
do setor, representando 71% em
2020. Outra indústria em destaque é a
embalagem, que tem vindo a crescer de
uma forma sustentada, representando,
neste momento, 11% da produção
nacional de moldes.
No entanto, regista-se a presença do setor
em outras áreas industriais de grande
importância para o desenvolvimento de
novos produtos na economia mundial,
assim como a procura por novas áreas
e nichos, como é o caso da indústria de
dispositivos médicos.

Industries
Statistical information concerning the
main industries served by the moulds
sector shows that the automotive industry
has been consolidating its growth
and importance in the development of
the sector, representing 71% in 2020.
Another highlighted industry is packaging,
representing 11% of moulds production.
However, it should be consider the presence
of the sector in other major and high tech
industries, contributing for the development
of new products in the world economy and
acting in new areas and segments.
