Apollo Information
Apollo is one of Greek mythology's most important gods, a beardless, youthful, and athletic figure. He is the
god of the sun, light, knowledge, music, art, poetry, oracles, medicine, archery, and prophecy. Apollo is the
son of Zeus and Leto. His twin sister Artemis is the goddess of the hunt. As the god of sun, Apollo moved the
sun with his chariot and golden horses. Apollo's appearance was gold and shimmering, with golden hair and a
muscular physique. Symbols associated with Apollo include the golden chariot, bows and arrows, the raven,
the lyre, the wolf, deer, and the laurel tree.

Description of Myth
Apollo was also famous for being an oracular god, and had two cults in Delphi and Delos. People would come
from all over the world to learn from Apollo what their future held. It was believed that, as the God of both
medicine and plague, Apollo could heal people as well as cause disease by shooting people with his arrows

Theory of Myth Generation

Apollo was the son of the most powerful Greek god, Zeus, and one of his many godly mistresses, Leto. When
Zeus' wife, Hera, discovered that Leto was pregnant with Zeus' offspring, Leto was chased by the angry deity
from Mt. Olympus and the entire Greek mainland. Finally settling on the secluded island of Delos, Leto gave
birth to Apollo and his twin sister, Artemis.
Apollo is the subject of numerous Greek myths. His first and, perhaps, most well-known feat took place at
Delphi, where an oracle created prophecies from the vapors rising from a chasm. According to legend, this
oracle at Delphi (though, in this myth, the site is often referred to as Pythos) was guarded by a giant dragon
called Python. Not only did Python keep the oracle's prophecies for himself, but he caused widespread
destruction to the surrounding countryside - as dragons tend to do in these stories. Apollo pursued Python,
eventually slaying him with a bow and arrows. From that point forward, the oracle at Delphi was dedicated to
Apollo, and the Greeks honored Apollo with the Pythian Games, held every four years on that site.

Cult Today
Apollo was also known as the “Hyperborean” and invader from the north.   Thus he is indicated as Nordic or
Aryan.  This is corroborated, for example, through the symbol of his chariot, the early technological means of
Aryan dominance.  Yet he is also known as “The Most Greek.”

Thus here we see the Nordic type is posited as a racial ideal among the ancient Greeks.  To be clear, the
Apollonian cult was consciously developed as a eugenic cult in citifying conditions.  Here we find an effort to
maintain and even ameliorate a primary founding type.  The rituals of the Thargelia makes this beyond
dispute.

Apollo Description
APOLLON (Apollo) was the Olympian god of prophecy and oracles, music, song and poetry, archery, healing,
plague and disease, and the protection of the young. He was depicted as a handsome, beardless youth with
long hair and attributes such as a wreath and branch of laurel, bow and quiver of arrows, raven, and lyre.

Apollo Function
As the god of Mousike (art of Muses), Apollo presides over all music, songs, dance and poetry. He is the
inventor of string-music, and the frequent companion of the Muses, functioning as their chorus leader in
celebrations. The lyre is a common attribute of Apollo
