MARK STEPHEN P.

MADRONIO BSEE-2C AUGUST 20, 2020

I’m Mark Stephen P. Madronio, and I’m called

Stephen by my friends. I am 20 years old and I was born on
July 26, 2000 at Kawit, Cavite. I’m from Colacling, Lupi,
Camarines Sur. I have five siblings and I am the oldest one.
Two of them are boys and three are girls. The boy next to
my age is currently a first year college student, the next one
is a girl who is currently a grade 11 student, next one is a
boy who is a grade 3 pupil, and my youngest sisters are
currently two years old and one year old toddlers. My
parents have taught me of being responsible in every aspect of my life, including my health,
actions, and decisions that I had made. They also taught me on how important education is
for my future and how I should value my time. My parents made me a better person I’m
currently right now. My mother is a secondary school teacher while my father is a farm
owner.

I graduated as the batch valedictorian in Colacling Elementary School. I took my

Junior High School in Colacling National High School and I graduated as the valedictorian
with flying colors. And this year I graduated in Ateneo de Naga University Senior High
School, having a 2nd honors award or also known as a with high honors award. At this
moment I am currently taking Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Bicol
University as a first-year college student.

I was an altar server or sacristan back in the parish in my hometown. I am also a

member of the Boy Scout of the Philippines, having awarded last November 24, 2018 of the
highest rank in scouting, the Eagle Scout rank. I consider myself as a semi introvert person
whereas I try to not express myself more to other people and yet at the same time I am also a
social person where I frequently have a conversation with others. In other words, I like to
socialize and yet I’m failing to express more of myself to others where I tend to be alone with
myself. I like to eat delicious and at the same time, affordable foods. I also love drinking
coffees. The things I dislike are slow internet connection, noises, super-hot weather, and
other stuff that are annoying and uncomfortable. I like to read novels and mangas online. I
also like to watch animes and play games on phone and the computer. I like to do those stuff
while lying on the bed and having no worries. I also play chess, basketball and table tennis.
Back on my junior high school days, I played chess in the palaro, but I just reached the River
Meet level.

I decided to take electrical engineering since I was hooked in the lessons in physics on
my senior high school days. But then at first, my first choice was architecture and it was not
covered by the DOST scholarship which is my priority since it can help lessen the financial
burden on my parents. So, then I decided to enroll in my second choice, which is the
electrical engineering and thankfully because of the helpful and kind faculty, I was accepted.

What I expect in the subject is that it would be more informative about Dr. Jose Rizal
than the past subject I had in the past. I expect that it won’t only focus on introducing him
and his works but also the deeper meaning of their existence and the events surrounding his
life and the events after his death. I also expect that the subject would also discuss the
significance of his work to the Filipinos and the reasons why he is honored as the national
hero of the Philippines instead of the other great heroes we had in the past.

I expect that the subject professor would be already familiar with the lessons of the
subject. I also expect Ma’am Gina would be more considerate and approachable regarding the
difficulties that each students would face during this pandemic. I also expect that she won’t
also be stressed out because of the situation, since I know the difficulties the professors and
teachers are experiencing right now in order for them to provide education to the students. I
hope together with her we can overcome the situation that this pandemic have brought
towards us and successfully finish this school year without mishaps.

I want to learn a new branch of our history, rooting from the life and works of Dr.
Jose Rizal. I also want to learn the reasons he wrote his works and the meanings behind his
works in a more detailed way. I also want learn the events during his life that may had
affected his works. I also want to learn the basis of him becoming our national hero and the
reasons that differed him from the other heroes we have.

As far as my knowledge about him goes, we consider his works as the spark of the
revolution against the Spaniards. His works, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo made a
great depiction of what is the situation of the Philippines under the Spaniards’ rule. His works
made the blood of the Filipinos boiled, and thus came the huge revolutionary movement
throughout the country. Regarding his life, I know him as a genius and from a well-off
family. He studied not only in the Philippines but also in the western countries. I also know
him as a womanizer. Because of his works he was arrested and was killed under the hands of
fellow Filipinos that were soldiers under the Spaniards. Regarding the issue of whether he
should really be honored as our national hero or not, I think he should be. Even if I really
don’t know the basis that made him the national hero, experts won’t put the title on him
without reasons and deeper deliberations. But I think it was because of without his works
Filipinos won’t be one in starting a revolution. His works served as the spark the Filipinos
were waiting for, without them I think many Filipinos won’t have the courage to face the
unruly conquerors. Also, I think because of his works there wouldn’t be large revolutionary
movements where leaders were born and there would only be small skirmishes between a
bunch of the oppressed and the oppressors. I hope the subject would help me in
understanding more of this topic, so I can be enlightened whether my own idea is correct or
not.
