FILM AND DRAMA

CRITICAL UNDERSTANDING

My predictions towards Pakistani Films and Dramas are that I personally feel Pakistani dramas have
enough understanding of how one should portray their content in regard with the story and cast,
whereas for films I feel that the industry has not received any good scripts apart from a few ones. They
tend to make Pakistani films in a manner that so for are not acceptable in our culture or hence do not
portray our culture. For dramas, there are a few dramas that are dragged along for no reason. Whereas,
they could have been ended on a better note, but the production decides where to put the full stop. I
also agree that Pakistani content is also audience centric, as to mention an example of a renowned
drama aired a few weeks ago was ARY Digital’s “Jalan”, it received a massive amount of hatred for
showing such a content on television that was barely acceptable. It also received a few warnings after
which it was decided to be banned by the official authority. These dramas and films are majorly
produced under the same production houses who are in process of making the Pakistani film industry a
new name globally with their content. Pakistani audience has its own ways of giving feedback through
social media platforms where they express their feelings about a content which in return does create an
effect and highlights into the society. So, I may say that not a lot of the Pakistani content be it movies or
dramas, but Pakistani audience does kind of reflect their thoughts and the content become audience
involved content. The audience prefers and encourages to make do with cinematic movies and films
with a cause that they could go and spend quality times and also receive value of money. As far as the
future of this industry is questioned, I think that I am not sure about the films, but the dramas would
make a great deal. They would definitely engage more audience like they are at the moment from over
south Asian countries, they will grab more attention towards and make a better name. As for the films
are concerned, they are and I am sure will be working on their productions but as for me except a few
films, I feel that none of them were up to the mark. Pakistan looks forward in making better content and
surely will. Nonetheless, our celebrities have gained much popularity through their works in the drama
industry and through social content also.
