NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCHOOL-BASED TRAINING

“Once a teacher… forever a learner…” This adage is a constant reminder that teachers
need continuous professional growth and development. It connotes that the learning of the
teachers should not stopped the moment that had earned a higher degree, much more, each of
them have to constantly acquire knowledge and abreast with swift and sudden changes in the
curriculum.
Today, the teachers are facing the challenges of the New Normal. The traditional face to
face classes had been suspended and no one knows when this set up will resume. Consequently,
teachers have to deliver the teaching in an alternative delivery modality which is the modular
distance learning. Aside from it, whenever possible, online distance learning through
asynchronous modality is also being employed.
In this regard, such transition to the new normal needs updates and adjustment on the part
of the teachers. Moreover, the teachers have to keep themselves updated with the trends in
teaching the new normal.
Therefore, teachers should apply appropriate teaching strategies that best suit specific

objectives and level exit outcomes to facilitate the process of knowledge transmission in the New

Normal and Modular Delivery Modality. By these, teachers play a significant role in the

intellectual development of the learners using various assessments and teaching strategies to

improve learners’ performance in schools’ subject.

Locally, the Schools Division of Marinduque directed and required each school in the

said division to conduct professional development through In-Service Training (INSET) dated

March 15-19, 2021.

Through the School Memo issued by the school principal of Butansapa National High

School, an INSET was conducted with some of important objectives: a) discuss how to use
online platform using: google meet; and Share the best practices of teachers in relation to the

preparation of video and audio lesson in different learning areas; and integrate ICT into teaching

and learning.
