CRITERIA FOR APPOINTMENT

•OF CITY MANAGER


CITY OF FAIRFIELD, OHIO

Pursuaut to Article 6.0 I (B) of the Fairfield City Charter, Council shali be'the
sole judge of th€ ·personal,. exeeutive and administrative qualifications and training
and exp~rience _ofpersons considered for appointment to the office of City Manager.
Council haS det€rm.ined that the following criteria will be considered by City Council
in making the appointment of the City Manager: ·

(1)· · Must.hold at least a Master's Degree with emphasis in public service


preferred. · ·

.. (2) Must have at least ten (1 0) years. of public sector employment with-
progressively ·increasing r~spo~fbiiities including at least· four (4)
years of"public sector management experience. ·

(3) Must have demonstrated experience arid· expertise· in ffuancial matters


including, but not limited to, 'successful preparation and.management
of public ·sector regular and capital improvement budgets on an entity-
wide basis and demonstrated knowledge oflocal tax and revenue issues.
Ohio experience preferred.

(4) Must have excellent written and oral communication and presentation
skills with ·confidence to serve as the City's spokesperson.
