InTASC Standard #10: Leadership and Collaboration

“The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for
student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals,
and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.”

Throughout my experiences as a parent, a student, and an educator, I am a firm believer

that we are all lifelong learners. Every day, I have learned new things from my daughters and my
husband that have encouraged me to become a better individual. As a student, I have learned
great and valuable things that have paved my journey in becoming an educator. For example,
through various professional development events I’ve attended, I’ve learned about methods that
will help me set expectations in the classroom and engage students in the lessons, which in turn
will increase positive classroom management. These experiences have allowed me to appreciate
learning new things because they allow me to become a better educator. When I have the
opportunity to teach, I am excited about being able to continually grow by learning from my
students, my principal, my teammates, and the people around me. I look forward to attending
many professional development opportunities because they will introduce me to various methods
and tools I can use in the classroom. My goal as an educator is to help my students succeed and
what better way to do this than to educate myself, add more tools to my toolbox, and find the
best methods to help my students reach their own goals! The most important aspect of education
for me is creating a bridge between home and school because a child’s home is their first school,
and we must work as a team to help every child succeed. I believe in the importance of positive
communication that will bridge the gap between home and school for every child!
