On the Job training (OJT 500) or Internship Training is a program course for
every student to undergo training under their chosen field of specialization and industry.
In this way, the students can think of new ways to set themselves apart from all of the
other skilled candidates. Interns are usually undergraduates or students, and most
internships last between a month and three months. Internships are usually part-time if
offered during a university semester and full-time if offered during the vacation periods

2019).
Practically, the best way to learn a specific job is through training where you
ought to get along with experienced workers in a particular trade of profession. Skills
and knowledge were passed firsthand as trainees work alongside with professionals.
Being exposed to the real working environment and getting along with experienced
workers, student trainees will be ready enough to explore and think of their future
endeavor.

The internship training for SE program lasts for 500 hours at the student’s
choice of industry. The SE students can choose on what type of field of specialization
as provided below:
1. Environmental Engineering*
2. Environmental Management*
6. Wastewater Engineering*
*As based on CMO No. 35, Series of 2009, Sec 4.3 “Fields of Specialization/Career Options/Opportunities”
On the other hand, the training will be the best opportunity for the engineering students
to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipment and
documents. In this training, student trainees acquire both general skills that they can transfer
from one job to another and specific skills that are unique to a particular job. These skills
include verbal and written instruction, demonstration and observation, and hands-on practice
and imitation.
II. Objectives
To attain position in an on the job training program and acquire knowledge and
production, refining and marketing of oil and natural gas, and the manufacturing and
marketing of chemicals. Around 84,000 employees across more than 70 countries work
together to power progress through more and cleaner energy solutions. The company

use advanced technologies and take an innovative approach to help build a sustainable
energy future.
Royal Dutch Shell was formed in 1907, although their history can be traced
back to the first half of the 19th century. Shell’s headquarters are in The Hague, the

b. Interpersonal
manage positive social relationships with a range of people during the internship
and learning to live and work with others, thus I also developed the following:
✓ Understanding peers
✓ Management skills
Most of the time, I talked a lot with diverse people from various contractors of
PSPC-Tabangao Refinery. This is because our department handles most of the trainings
such as Bike, Confined Space Entry, Hydrogen Sulfide, Permit to Work, Working at
Heights, etc. With this, I am introduced on a busy working environment to which good

VI. Training Assessment in Relation to Student Outcomes
Student Outcomes
1. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering
problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and
mathematics.
2. an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that
meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety,
and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and
economic factors.
3. an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences. ✔
4. an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in
engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must
✔
consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic,
environmental, and societal contexts.
5. an ability to function effectively on a team whose members
together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive
environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
6. an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation,
analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw
conclusions.
7. an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using
appropriate learning strategies.
engineering situations and making informed judgments was improved during my stay
under the HSE Department. With the launching of Pitstop 2019 (Maintenance

Shutdown), various environmental incident reports were given at the department. As
part of PCO works, there is a need to inspect and to investigate the incident reports and
make a professional move to solve the problem. With this investigations and inspections,
I am able to understand the scope of work and how informed and smart judgments could
help in solving industry problems which might have great impact in the environment.
Also, the department heads/supervisors are always conducting walkabout (site visit) to
which I am also being asked to go with them. I was able to actually see the incidents if
there were any, and was given the chance to give engineering opinions on it.
me with various activities ranging from small office works such as housekeeping of
important environmental and emergency response files up to actual site inspection and
the waste storage facility of the refinery was also given to me to which I was able to
actually inspect and give sound reports to the Environmental Advisor/PCO. With this,
I was able to enjoy my stay and training having a high sense of belongingness in the
department I was assigned with. Without a doubt, I really think that the experience I
had at Shell Tabangao Refinery helped me to improve my working ego and more
At the course of the training period, I am able to apply the academic theories
and work values I learned at the academe. Furthermore, I am able to accomplished the
requirements of the training program for both industry and academe. I also learned a
lot – thus, increasing my knowledge in the field of Sanitary engineering with the help
