lighter and ashtray light.

guide fitting which is worn because of frequent use will have a
smoothly worn surface, but no scoring).

complete with buckle.

tion (transition from roof to A-pillar).
♦ When carrying out repairs behind the curtain airbag, always
remove the complete unit.

tainer or on a clean, level surface (place on blanket or in
luggage compartment).

3.5.1 Removing and installing cover and padding for 1/3 section of rear seat
backrest
– Remove backrest ⇒ page 303 .
– Unscrew bolts -2- (2x) from lock trim -3-.
– Remove head restraint -4- by pressing catch on left head re‐
straint guide -6-.
– Remove head restraint guide -6- ⇒ page 351 .
– Lever fastening strip -10- out of backrest pan -5-.
– Use screwdriver to lever fastening strip -11- out of fastening
groove -12-.
– Pinch off upholstery clips -7- and detach seat cover.

– Use upholstery clip pliers -V.A.G 1634- to fit new upholstery

– When installing a new backrest pan, bend retaining tabs -13-
inwards approx. 1 - 2 mm so that fastening strip is held more

– Remove padding -2- from cover -3-.

– Insert padding -2- in cover -3-, making sure it is correctly
aligned.
– Push mounting bracket -1- for head restraint into padding with
cover -2-, starting on the side with the button.
– Press fastening strips firmly into guide channel (pull to check).
