    1. Determine each of the following areas and show these graphically. Use
    probability notation in your final answer.
    a. Below 𝑧 = 2.08
    b. Between 𝑧 = 0.44 and 𝑧 = 2.69
    c. Above 𝑧 = −0.23

    2. Scores on a scholarship aptitude exam are normally distributed with a mean of


    72 and a standard deviation of 8. Find the probability that a randomly selected
    applicant will score above 60.

    3. The lifetime of a certain brand of battery is normally distributed with mean 1,200
    days and standard deviation 80 days. What percentage of this brand of battery
    can be expected to last at most 1,108 days?

    4. Say that you will have to wait for a bus. Assume that the amount of waiting time
    is normally distributed between 0 and 15 minutes. Suppose that the mean
    waiting time of a person is 8 minutes and the standard deviation is 1.8. Find the
    probability that you will wait for less than 12.5 minutes.

    5. The monthly salaries of employees in a call center company are approximately


    normally distributed with a mean of ₱24,000 and a standard deviation of
    ₱8,000. What percent of people earn between ₱35,000 and ₱45,000?
