Pre-Thesis Seminar

1. As part of a team working on making improvements to a product/plan, you are seeking feedback from
the end user of their experience. This feedback will give direction to the design team. Prepare a set of
six questions that you will ask the end user of any three of the following products/plans, to obtain the
necessary feedback. The design team is looking for the scope to improve the performance of the
product. Your questions to the end user should be able to extract that information. 15marks
a. Laptop (to help the manufacturer)
b. A street (to help the urban designer)
c. An apartment owner of a standalone apartment of 15 units in five floors (to help the builder)
d. School of Architecture (for someone who is planning to establish a school of Architecture)
e. Nursing home for a doctor who wants to set up a nursing home)
f. Park (for the Municipal Commissioner)
g. RTC Bus terminal (for RTC Commissioner)

2. AP State Government spends lot of money on buildings and city development every year. All that
investment is made for the benefit of citizens by creating convenient and comfortable built
environment. It is seeking the help of Architects to audit the buildings and city developments to find
out to what extent the goals are achieved. 15marks

Give your observations on any three of the following. You have to give the positives and negatives
and make recommendations. Your observations and recommendations will become the basis for the
Government to redraft the proposals to be made.

c. Housing project for economically weaker sections.
d. Housing for middle income people.

g. City development as a whole
