Module 1 – Lesson 1
1. Reflection

a. What role does history take in the study of Philippine society, culture, and
identity?

- Philippine society, culture, and identity are a "patchwork" derived from its
history. It is a reflection of the battles that our ancestors fought and the
life they lived. History holds answers of when, what, why, and how things
lead to the state that we currently live. Thus, to further grasp the study,
we must first learn our country's roots.

b. Expound the phrase “history is like a beam of light from a flashlight”.

- Like a beam of light from a flashlight, history enlightens the people of

answers not seen in the present. It clarifies our vision and grants us the
ability to see things from our perspectives. And similar to the increasing
width of the ray, a single question may lead to countless discoveries from
the past.

c. Reflect on your own past. Make a timeline of your life from childhood up to
now by identifying only the most memorable and important events that
happened in your life. Use a fishbone diagram or any possible timeline
format.

d. From the timeline you made, how does your past influence your present
being, your identity, and behavior.

- Base from the timeline that I made, I can say that I am a student that is
capable of doing his best in any kind of situation. I cannot state to myself
that I am already good at all things, I rather say that I am just still a man
that is learning about stuff that can help me survive in this world. I gained
experiences in all of what I experienced at those times. It helped me be a
better person and also I realized how hard to achieve my dreams. It is just a
