Mobile Application for Creating
Subject History & Social Science- The actual subject I am
focusing on is Civics & Economics.
Grade Level. 7th Grade
Learning Objective CE.2 The student will apply social science skills
to understand the foundations of American
constitutional government by
a) explaining the fundamental principles
of consent of the governed, limited
government, rule of law, democracy,
and representative government;
b) examining and evaluating the impact
of the Magna Carta, charters of the
Virginia Company of London, the
Virginia Declaration of Rights, the
Declaration of Independence, the
Articles of Confederation, and the
Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom
on the Constitution of Virginia and the
Constitution of the United States,
including the Bill of Rights;
c) describing the purposes for the
Constitution of the United States as
stated in its Preamble; and
d) describing the procedures for
amending the Constitution of Virginia
and the Constitution of the United
States.
Activity 1. Teacher will provide their students with a

1. Teacher will provide their students with a
TLED 430
lesson on all of the concepts stated above in
the standards of learning.
2. Teacher will provide their students with a
study guide sheet of important terms they
will need to know/memorize.
3. Students will download the app Quizlet on
their phones and create a free account.
4. Students will then create flashcards on
Quizlet with all the terms the teacher
provided for them.
a. The front of the flashcard will display
the term/word.
b. The back of the flashcard will have the
definition or any other information that
is necessary for the students to know.
c. Example: On the front of the flashcard
the student would put “Describe the
procedures for amending the
Constitution of the United States.” Then
on the back of the flashcard, the student
would put the procedures for amending
the Constitution in the correct order.
5. The teacher will show the students how to
create a flashcard and use Quizlet if they are
unfamiliar with it.
6. Afterwards, students can quiz each other
with their flashcards and there are other
collaborative options to study on Quizlet
such as; a matching game, a practice test, or
a vocabulary test.
7. The teacher will be able to create a group
for her class to join on Quizlet. The students
will join the class group and the teacher will
be able to go in and see their flashcards and
lesson on all of the concepts stated above in
the standards of learning.
2. Teacher will provide their students with a
study guide sheet of important terms they
will need to know/memorize.
3. Teacher will then instruct their students to
go onto Kahoot on their phone.
4. Student will then join and enter a code to
join the teachers Kahoot quiz.
5. Students will be able to do the Kahoot quiz
by themselves or with one other classmate.
6. Once everyone has joined the Kahoot, the
teacher will begin the quiz.
a. The teacher will be the one who needs
to create an account for Kahoot. The
teacher will then create their own
questions and answers and save it on
Kahoot.
b. The Kahoot will be displayed to the front
of the class on a projector. A code will
be displayed that the students will type
the code in on their personal phone or
computer so they can join the teachers
Kahoot.
c. Once all the students have joined the
Kahoot quiz will begin.
d. The question and answer choices will be
displayed from the teachers computer
on the projector so the whole class can
see.
e. Each answer choice is provided with a
specific shape and color. Those shapes
and colors are then shown on the
students’ Kahoot page. Whatever

make sure they completed the task answer choice the student thinks is
correctly. correct, they will select that shape/color
on their personal screen.
f. Once everyone has answered, the
question will disappear and the students
screen will light up red or green which
determines if their answer choice was
correct or incorrect.
g. Kahoot then gives each student/team
points if they answer the question
correctly.
h. At the end of the Kahoot quiz, Kahoot
will display the top three students which
are the students who answered the
most amount of questions correctly.
7. When the Kahoot quiz is done, the teacher
will be able to see how many points each
student/team got and how many questions
the students/team got correct and incorrect.
