SESSION LISTENING AND
1 SPEAKING

I WILL SURVIVE – GLORIA GAYNOR –

At first I was afraid; I was petrified,
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side,
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong,
And I grew strong, and I learned how to get along.
So you're back, from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face,
I should have changed that stupid lock,
I should have made you leave your key,
If I'd known for just one second you'd be back to bother me,
Oh and now GO! Walk out the door! Just turn around now,
'Cause you're not welcome anymore!
Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbyes,
D' you Think I'd crumble, you think I'd lay down and die?
No, not I, I will survive...oh as long as I know how to love,
I know I am still alive.
I got all my life to live, and I got all my love to give,
I will survive, hey hey!

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart,

Now I am trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart,
I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself,
I used to cry, but now I hold my head up high,
And you see me, somebody new. I am not that chained up
little person still in love with you, and so you
just felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free,
Now I am saving all my loving for someone who's loving me
Oh and now GO! Walk out the door! Just turn around now,
'Cause you're not welcome anymore!
Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbyes,
D' you Think I'd crumble, you think I'd lay down and die?
No, not I, I will survive,… oh as long as I know how to love,
I know I am still alive,
I got all my life to live, and I got all my love to give,
I will survive, oh yeah!

Oh and now GO! Walk out the door! Just turn around now,

5. Read the report. Which items already exist? Which items are just
ideas?

Communication
If you think mobile phones are clever now, you will love some of the
concepts for the future. Nokia asked art and design students to design
dream phones for 2015 and beyond. These were two of the ideas:
 Scentsory – This phone uses aroma detectors so you will see, hear and
smell your caller’s environment.
 Regenerate – This phone is eco-friendly and it makes you eco-friendly
too! Regenerate analyses your daily impact on the planet. If you are
“green”, you will get free calls and text messages.

Interactive Reading
In the future, if you want to read a paper book, you will have to go to a
library. That’s because of computer books. One of the first computer
books, the Sony Reader, looks like a small hand-held computer, but the
print is the quality of a real book. And that’s just the beginning! Future
computer books will have flexible screens and can be completely
interactive.

Sky Cars
They have appeared in science-fiction films for years, but now it seems
flying cars aren’t just a fantasy. Moller International has already developed

DIDACTIC UNIT 8 8
the first flying car, M400 Skycar, and people believe others will soon
follow. So will the sky be the road of tomorrow? We’ll have to wait and
see.

1 Read the text. Then answer the questions.

DIDACTIC UNIT 8 18
Space Holiday

Many people say, “If there’s a chance to go into space, I’ll take it!” American
millionaire Dennis Tito always dreamed of flying into space. In 2001, his dream
came true. Sixty-year-old Tito paid twenty million dollars to fly in a Russian
space capsule with two Russian cosmonauts on an eight-day flight. He visited
the International Space Station (ISS). While he was in space, he took a lot of
photographs and listened to twenty hours of opera CDs.

For Tito this trip wasn’t really a holiday. He first had to work hard to become a
cosmonaut. But it was a dream come true. He was the world’s first space
